A farewell
I have done it.
That is getting another car to replace the XC60. A Nissan Ariya on lease which is also something new for me. Always bought cash or on hire purchase. It's been the best car I have had. Reliable, ticked a lot of boxes for me and supremely comfortable on long journeys. Only needed tires and rear brake pads over 5.5 years Only thing I wished for is a more exciting handling. I'll miss it and Volvo. Maybe one day I'll come back to the brand.

Good luck!
I think I will be doing the same once I get the itch, I also have a pre lockdown/cost cutting model like yours and see so many things on newer ones that annoy me. It would be interesting to see if you find the interior build quality as good in the nissan |

I’m in the same boat as you with my XC90. Like yours, it’s been the best car I’ve had. Reliable, comfortable and incredibly practical family transport which has required only routine maintenance during my ownership. I actually had a new XC90 T8 on order through the September offers. But in the end, the head ruled the heart and I cancelled the order in December and ordered a Skoda Enyaq Sportline through my employer’s salary sacrifice scheme.
I will miss the XC90 a lot. I’ll miss the space, the 7 seat practicality (even though I only use it occasionally) and the quality of the interior. But I’m only doing around 6-7k miles a year now, mainly local journeys at the moment, and I just couldn’t justify the outlay for a new XC90, not to mention the eye watering insurance cost of the T8. For me, the XC90 has just become too expensive. Like you I also hope to come back to the Volvo brand one day. Good luck with the Ariya.

I will not be replacing my XC90 with another 90 or a 60 as they don’t build the spec anymore that I want. However, I have delayed the problem by deciding to run mine another two years. Hopefully the marketplace will be a lot more interesting in 2026.
I think Volvo are getting a lot of new buyers for the 40s but the bigger cars are increasingly uncompetitive on price and spec for some of us.
