Default Parking brake message V90 2017.

After a fairly long journey and about a mile from home I got a 'Parking brake service required' message on the driver screen. After reversing on the drive it changed to 'Auto hold service required'.

I always have auto hold switched on but the green light in the switch is now off and if I try to apply the parking brake manually the red P light flashes and no sound comes from the rear brake actuators.

I know its probably a trip to the main dealer but just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

It is a fairly common fault, usually a quick fix with a software update, I have had it happen to me and was resolved very quickly at the dealership.

Could be a fault the wire loom linked to auto hold. Got something similar replaced on previous 2017 V90 under warranty.

Update:

After the initial messages, the following morning the car displayed nothing on start-up so I drove a couple of miles to our local riverside dog walking area. On return to the car it displayed 'park brake not fully released' but as it rolled freely I drove home and contacted Volvo Assistance.

The technician carried out a diagnostics check and the right hand park brake motor showed 'excessive resistance'. He disconnected the electrical connections to both rear callipers as the system had by then applied the left hand parking brake fully. I was able to drive the car to the Volvo dealer 25 miles away (red light flashing and warning chime going mad) followed by the Volvo Assistance technician who had prior notified them of its arrival, he then gave me a lift home, excellent service!

Got a phone call this morning to say that the motor wasn't the problem, simply a fractured wire in the harness which they've repaired satisfactorily. Apparently its not an uncommon issue on SPA models, presumably they've spliced a short repair cable in but have said that in the event of a future recurrence a new loom will be required.
