Default 2019 V90 Cross Country Squeaky Fan

This morning I noticed a squeak type noise from the engine bay at low speed. Opening the bonnet it sounds like it is coming from the cooling fan. The first thing that surprised me was the fan was running all the time. I was under the impression that fans on modern cars only ran when required.

As soon as the engine was switched off the noise stopped so I assume that it isn't the fan or bearings but the fan motor.

Has anyone had a similar issue and if so, what was the fix?

Can you get the engine to run without the cooling fan running? If so, I assume the noise is not there?

Without wishing to panic you mine used to make a squeak which I thought at first was an ancillary unit of some sort. It turned out to be camshaft failure....

Your A/C was on - that’s the only reason I can think of why the cooling fan would be running from cold.

As for the squeak- see that there’s nothing catching to it - eg. A large bug, leafs, etc.

I think I finally got to the cause of the noise and it surprised me.

I had allowed the Adblue to run very low (<200 miles left) after completing two 600 miles roundtrips after the refill warning appeared. Although I couldn't see how the two could be connected, and it was probably coincidence, I filled the Adblue tank. That was 8 days ago and the noise has never reoccurred.

I can only assume that the pump for the adblue was struggling to draw the remaining fluid out the tank and began rattling.

On the subject of adblue, does anyone else have problems filling their Volvo? It takes an entirety to fill mine and there are frequent blowbacks. I have to shack the car to try to clear the airlocks.
