Changing the autobox oil
Are there two ways of doing this and which is best?
I have heard that one way is to pump out/refill a few times and the other way is to drop the sump and drain it that way. On the basis that pumping out and refilling, no matter how many time you do it is never going to completely replace the oil, the sump drop method sounds preferable if slightly more messy. Anyone got any thoughts on this. Wer'e talking S80 with 135k on the dial and a fair bit of towing history (heavy caravan). No problems with the box but thinking of preventative maintenance measure. |

Draining is the method that won't get all the fluid out - it will only get what's in the sump, not in the gearbox.
The only way to be sure of getting all the fluid is to flush it will fresh fluid. Lots of instructions on the web on how to do it. |
