2004 XC70 Bi-Xenon headlight issue
My wife was out-of-state with the 2004 XC70 when the dashboard message center reported a bulb problem. Bulb out. Visited dealer who had said it would be 5 minutes to switch a bulb. An hour later they told her about a "transformer" that needed replacing and it cost $700 and would take 3 hours. Total expense of near $1,000.
She called very upset, and I told her to bring it home. We bought the car second hand, it was pristine, and has been great. We know nothing about bi-Xenon. By "transformer" do they mean "ballast"? And why would one headlamp be fine, if they "ballast" needs replacing? Thoughts? Suggestions? I am taking to our local dealer when she gets home with the car. Why is this an expensive nightmare? Thanks, SC |

Each bulb has its own ballast to fire up the bulb.
Can’t comment on the prices. It may be cheaper to fit a complete conversion kit Happy New Year |
