82' 242 Californian Import, Resto Project
It is with great regret that i am having to move on my 242. I have it 9 years and have accumulated a lot of spares for it over the years but unfortunately it has to go for personal reasons.
The shell is 110% perfect with no rust or rot worth talking about. It does however need extensive reassembling. I had planned to build it as a hillclimb/rally car and stripped out the interior and old B23a and auto box. I converted it to RHD and put a RHD wiring loom and dash in. Unfortunately i dont have any of the LHD parts any more. It was supplied new to an American Air Base in germany, then was shipped back to CA after a few months where it spent 5 years with the owner - an irish priest, he then shipped it home to Ireland and used it during the summer, when he died it sat dry stored for 10years or so. I have some history there for it including shipping documents and it displays a Volvo Special Delivery sticker on the back window. The car comes with a donor 240GL estate for front panels if needs be. Its also supplied with x5 Virgo GLT wheels, Spax Adjustable suspension all round, a B23A with Twin Dellorto 48's and only 90k miles and an M47 box. There are some other parts but they are the major bits. I am located in Southern Ireland but will deliver it to any Irish Port. I would like 800pounds for the lot, I am open to offers and more important than the money i am more interested in finding someone who will look after the car and finish the restoration as i had intended. This car is too good to leave sit and out of the 3 242's i have seen in my life it is by far the soundest. Pictures shortly. 00353 87 2337835.

Sold I'm afraid guys, but to another Volvo nut who will hopefully give it the time and attention it deserves. End of an era for me.

Hi Ben
Please encourage the new owner of the 242 to tell us about progress on this forum! On another topic, ages ago we talked about a 164 rear seat that you had; you thought is was A1 condition. Did you ever finds that? Still interested if it's really good. Thanks John |
