Bending spring metal
'morning,
My door detents are non-existent. I think I have figured out how to remove the C-spring from the hinge, but is it possible to bend the spring back? Cold or hot? If hot, will it alter the metal? Thanks Henrik Morsing

Are you referring to the part of the hinge mechanism that holds the door open? If you are then these can be swapped with the rear door hinges 🙂

Swap in a complete hinge from a rear door on the same side- the rear doors are used less, so the hinges are in better condition.

potatoes, tomatoes, I didn't want to just say 'the hinge' as only one of them has the mechansim bit that wears out, but I'm sure he gets the point

Ok, I knew I oculd just swap the hinges, maybe I will just do that then. Would have been nice if I could actually fix it though :-)

It can be done by heating, similar to car leaf springs:~

I fixed (OK, bodged) my driver's door spring retainer by driving a metal spike (nail?) behind the spring to force it outwards from the A pillar. Not pretty, but it worked.
