Default Clutch issues

Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with clutch slip, as soon as car remapped? Car has now been put back to standard and clutch still slipping! No issue before remap and cars only done 60k ☹️

all depends on how it’s been driven you can wear a clutch out in no time if you drive it badly. Have you had the car from new? I’m not saying your a bad driver I just meant in terms of clutch wear. Sounds like the remap has finished off what was an already worn clutch and a new one is the only answer if it’s slipping.

I’m afraid the clutch has a torque rating that decreases with wear and your remap has probably exceeded and accelerated the wear to the point it wont stay locked.

Really with a remap you dont want to be flooring it in top gear just because you can, drop down one, this murders the clutch. Used to run big torque Alfa JtD’s, on the same map (255bhp / 550NM on a car designed for 210/400NM) some lads got 30,000 miles out a clutch, others happily disposed of the car at 80,000 on the original.

The other angle is that the remap may be a lot more spiky in torque than the manufacturers, this immediately overcomes the clutch.

I dont know if yours is a fwd D4 VEA or not, mine is and I think the standard clutch is weak, the slightest incline in reverse and it stinks.

You seem surprised that once something is knackered, it stays knackered, it doesn't fix itself once the load has been reduced.

Unfortunately, I think your understanding of clutches has led to you killing yours in short time.

Fortunately I do understand how clutches work! I've only had the car a couple of months so unsure how the original keeper drove it! And yes I am aware it stays knackered hence why it's booked in next week for a replacement as like yourself I know it won't fix itself by reducing the load,I just made the decision that I'll get the clutch replaced and have a rethink on wether to remap or not!

Only had the car a couple of months with 1 previous owner, booked in for replacement next week 👍🏼 as you state it was obviously already worn but not enough yet to slip but the extra torque has just killed it ☹️

Oh right, well I can only go by what I read and the premise of this thread and the questions you've asked read like you're very naive.

Given your claimed knowledge, I'm surprised you've asked the original question.

I was merely asking if anyone else had suffered the same issue as soon as having a remap done 👍🏼

Many have had Polestar remaps without issue but you've given no information about the upgrade you've had.

If you've had a <10% increase but had clutch issues, I'd be surprised and it would suggest that your clutch wasn't optimal before the remap.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if you'd had a 20% increase and experienced problems so the question is, what exactly have you had done?

Stage 1 by Shark so it was a massive increase and obviously way too much for my clutch 🙁
