Default 3rd/54K service costs

Hi

My D5 xc90 is due to have its 3rd service. My main dealer in Newcastle has quoted me £385 inc vat - seems very high to me! Am I being unrealistic or should I be able to get this done a lot cheaper?

HI,
depends what he,s going to do for that price.my last service by a main dealer cost more than that so it wont be going back again.6 litre,s of oil cost me 72 pounds for instance.there are plenty of good garages other than main dealers besides the nearest one to me has shut down.i think a normal service i.e. oil, filters and brake check should come in well under 300 pounds.

peter.

Default 60k service

Hi
I have just had my 03 xc serviced by my independant volvo man, It has actually done 51k but was due by time, it having been a year since the last 48k service. He carried out the 60k sevice as per the handbook, so I have had oil/filter, engine flush and pollen filter as well as all the normal checks. Its cost me £167.61.

If you search this forum you will find a list of indy Volvo mechanics, it might be worth making contact with one near you.

Hope this helps
Alan

Thanks guys. I've shopped around and managed to get Lloyd's of Carlisle to do it for £270. Their service manager came across as being very professional, and keen for the business. I'll let you know how the actual service is.

Service was carried out this Tuesday and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Lloyd's did the 3yr service, warranty check, and MOT for £300!

They spotted a problem with the rear brakes and were able to sort them out through the warranty so I didn't end up getting stung for any avoidable costs.

They very kindly gave me a 58plate V70 SE for the day so I was able to go about my business.

If you're in the north east and need your car servicing then I suggest you nip over to Carlisle.
