There's two other problems I have with the car. First, occasionally, the accelerator sticks down, when you ease off the pedal, it will full rev. If you pump the accelerator, it will unstick. It's nothing serious, if you know about it, and how to handle it.

The other is more annoying, and more serious. It's a common problem. I have water pooling in the rear driver-side footwell. There's a vent under the driver seat, and inside the vent, there's a cavity that's full of water, and we haven't been able to work out where the water is coming from.

Not had that issue with excelerator pedal .but as its mechanical the cable and the cable links coud be the problem I've not thinking it's the injection pump at moment you need someone to press and release the pedal slowly and see if it's sticking under the bonnet. If it's injection pump that's out of my domain .that question woud be good one for D24.com website they are very good .is your car auto or manual?⁶

I've had water in my car drivers side front footwell .I removed the carpet from front footwear dried the area found it getting in on the door pillar vent which has a plastic cover over it I sealed it with a mastic lucky I fixed it I've seen these cars rot out with these issues .so your problem may be from the front are so some carpet will need to be lifted a dried out . Rust is something that needs to be monitored on these cars I.e remove battery and check battery tray.ive had issues with both battery and washer bottle trays but got it under control now

I've had rust holes filled within the bulkhead, and front fenders, and the battery tray has recently been replaced after an advisory on the MOT. Considering I don't drive it much, it's in pretty good shape. I did talk about these problems when I first inherited the car, in 2018: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=282950

In the end, the decision was taken from me, as to which car to keep. The radiator blew on the Rover, and I ended up selling it for scrap.
