Default Drivers side cv joint or drive shaft

Hi all I'm after a cv joint for a 2.0 2001 v40 plus some discs for the front as mine are bad now I know you can get discs and pads for around the 70 mark but money is really tight right now so if anyone can help I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance
Billy

If money is tight, do what I did - Unipart. They're frowned upon by purists, but last year I did new discs and pads for all four wheels for around £100. Several thousand miles later, including a trip to France, and they're still strong. Slight bit of warpage to the OSR, thanks to the notorious V40 sticky handbrake problem, but that'd happen with gold-plated diamond-encrusted genuine Volvo discs just as easilly. These bargain bucket discs and pads are fine. Nothing wrong with 'em.

I think it comes down to meticulous installation. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Before even touching the discs WASH YOUR HANDS. Properly. Clean the discs with meths. No, a wipe with a rag won't do - steal a crappy old (laundered) tea-towel from under your wife's nose and clean the discs with meths, you can get it in DIY stores in the painting and decorating section.

Under no circumstances touch the faces of the pads, hold them by the edges.

Bleed the brakes thoroughly. Change the fluid if you need to. Hide the tea-towel before asking the wife to help with pressing the pedals.

Be thorough. Crap parts well installed out-perform good parts badly installed. Especially second-hand.

Meths, £3.50 per bottle at Wickes. Tea-towels, £1 for 3 at ASDA. Brake fluid - peanuts. Satisfaction, 100%.
