I'm sure I read in a recent post that the spring can foul on the arm and that whoever it was posting it tightened the spring mount slightly and the noise stopped.

having a horrid noise from steering over the last few weeks finally go round to taking a look, after a drive out and the noise at full volume, engine off took off the power steering tank cap, yep full of brown foam.
trip out to Halfauds and got some CHF fluid,
replaced the brown foam with nice new green stuff, took for a drive no noise as yet, will know for sure on way to work tomorrow

Default Fitted a towbar to 2005 XC70 D5 AWD

I bought a second hand 'Brink' OEM fixed towbar for my 2005 XC70 and fitted it at the weekend. The bar came with the module, lead, 13 pin socket and 7 pin adapter splitter for the princely sum of £100

I cleaned up the old towbar as there was a little rust around the brackets - and gave it a coat of satin black

Fitting is straightforward enough - all electrics are plug and play and everything worked first time. The only awkward part is re-fitting the mudflaps as once the rivets have been drilled out, the holes are quite big, so I'll need the proper rivets from Volvo before I can finish the job. Took a few hours and you need 2 people to lift the bar up to bolt on.

Well dropped it off for the mot this morning..................and it passed with no advisories, now got a happy glowing feeling, just got to sort the dreaded limp home mode now, just ordered a vac tester off ebay, suspect it's the vnt actuator leaking, sounds like i have a bag full of angry snakes with hiccups under the bonnet.

Replaced both front brake hoses, the old ones were starting to crack just before the calipers on both sides.

I used a SEALEY VS020 Brake & Clutch Bleeder which attaches to an air compressor (the bleeder is widely available on-line but do check pricing as it varies from £20 to £47 depending upon the chosen supplier)

It made the bleeding process so much easier, less messy and less wasted fluid.
