...which will mean more to a tech than a non tech...!!

There is some sort of 'valve' that assists the engine to get warmer after a cold start, presumably for emissions and better economy. Not sure whether all the gubbins you have had replaced includes this valve or if this valve is related, but worth a shot. Also worth checking all the hoses to this valve are not kinked and are secure.

I really hope you get sorted, it is irking me more than you...!!!

Good luck

Regards

Those water valves have been deleted now on recent engines ..

Default Weekend performance...

So it's Saturday which means Mrs A's XC60 becomes mine for two days!

Performance is 'as flat as a pancake', yuk Only the premium sound system makes it any joy to drive. Collected the Indian takeaway in the Audi TT as, in a straight choice, it's now a 'no-brainer' - leave the XC60 sitting there.

Roll on 6 April when Clelands Volvo promise to work their magic with the Nitrous Oxide cylinders again. Oh, how I had ten days of joy with our car in mid-March.

Arianne.

PS. Currently averaging 34mpg in a D4 VEA XC60 on V-Power diesel.

PPS. People, thanks for the suggestions of possible solutions. They're all appreciated, even the ones that aren't applicable - it's not likely we will find the answer if we don't contemplate the risk of failure too.

Indeed, I hooked up with the humour straight away and I have kept that tone when forwarding it to the dealership - I am sure they're as frustrated as me and a bit of good humour is helpful in such situations.

I particularly like the clips of the close up on the turtle, the driver running down the road and the final shot of the turtle swimming away happily. Brilliant!

Mine into dealer today for further investigation on the tortoise visits.

They have had a technician working on it all day and have identified the need for a new part and ordered a replacement for tomorrow so car staying with dealer. It is a swirl valve (did write down the full description but have lost the piece of paper I wrote it on so can't be more specific at the moment).

Maybe will sort it or a process of elimination?

Will update with more info when I collect.

PS. The V40 courtesy car is just great and returning 75 MPG - am I tempted..........well maybe next time round when I don't need quite such a big car...................

They really are cracking little cars, aren't they? Between the courtesy cars and Mrs McP's one I'm really enjoying quite a few miles in them. The D2 is a great engine for the V40, so the D4 in that car must be quite something...

I seem to remember another thread mentioning the swirl valve. Seems to be a common issue?

Default 6 April - today's the day?

Is today the day that Volvo finally manage to fix my car?

This is the sixth attempt and if this doesn't work then it'll go nuclear, my patience is at the end of its tether. The turtle took flight and disappeared a few days ago but the engine is still lacklustre and it's really no joy to drive it from that perspective. And she now stutters under acceleration from cold for the first few minutes - I haven't had a car that's done that since I sold my Cavalier with a manual choke! Sadly, that's been the story for most of the winter as the dealer has progressively worked their way through EGR valves, cooling pumps, swirl flaps and EMU upgrades.

We'll find out later when it's handed back from the dealer...

Arianne

PS. Summer 20" rims also make an appearance today - great looks, unsettled ride!

Scotland's different from England in that most of the Bank Holidays are 'floaters' - they can be used at other times of the year in the same way as annual leave. Hence, most of the firms are open for business as usual. Another advantage to this approach is that the roads don't get jammed
