Fascinating. Are you documenting your 165 rebuild like saintjohn? If so, is there a link to it? Thanks John |

John: Yes we are documenting my project, but moust of it is published in the magazine Klassiker. I have made several films, not just the one that I posted a link to above. Here´s a link to the first film, where I buy the car and recap it´s history (in swedish unfortenately): http://www.klassiker.nu/video/video-...volvo-165-1606 Here is film where we start the car for the first time in 20 years: http://www.klassiker.nu/video/video-...volvo-165-1707 And finally, here´s a film about the body of the car: http://www.klassiker.nu/video/projek...stlagning-2079 But if you are interested in the phenomenon 165 and are Facebook users, I can recommend a page I have created. Just pop in "Volvo 165" in the search area! To this date moust text is in swedish, but just ask me a question and I will reply in english. There are pictures there of several 165:s and I regularely post updates on my project. regards Fredrik Last edited by FredrikNyblad; Oct 5th, 2011 at 12:11. |

volvo 165 october update
Hi Fredrik good to hear from another 165 owner, if you want to contact me use my email saintjohn@c031.aone.net.au.
Progress is still happening, now we are onto the bonnent hinge area, which i did not think were to bad until we got stuck into them, we have also incorporated some extra drains into the body work as we go along because this is obviously a bad area for water and dirt to accumilate so a little bit of modification should help this. Enlosed are photos of my dash which is a VDO, different again and some photos of the material we have removed from the car so far. Regards John A foot note if you are looking for a PV52 that was residing in England it now a lives in Australia it arrived about a month a go. |

Excellent progress!
Yes, those are the "Rallye" gauges, but have VDO in place of the usual "Volvo Rallye" text. cheers James

new year update
Hi All happy New Year to everyone out there.
Not much happening recently, fitted up all panels to get gaps correct and alignment before it goes off to the paintshop. Unfortunetly l will have to get another bonnet organised [maybe use the orginal one now] because when they sandblasted the bonnet for me they distorted the sheet metal by hitting it to hard with the sand [a trap for young players, only do the supported edges not the middle were it is softer and flat or alternatively if you do do the whole lot angle the gun 45 degrees along the panel]. Anyway these are things we pick up as we go along cheers John |
