I have put Skyship on my ignore list so I don't have to put up with is boring copied and pasted text.

Can I recommend that everyone who wants this pointless thread locked or removed clicks the small red triangle with the exclamation mark in it to the left of the post, at the bottom of the posters details, next to the green dot that tells you if they are online. This will highlight it to the admin team who will deal with it as they see fit

It is a shame that some have to copy masses of text from elsewhere to influence members instead of good old experience being passed on.
Very few car owners in Germany change their own oil and filters, partly due to the difficulty of disposing of it correctly and it's a dirty job that the tyre places do very cheaply, in fact it would not save you money here because the quick lube places bulk buy oil and filters.
I don't have any tools in Germany, but I'm now going to buy some after the fuel filter fiasco!
None of my posts are copied, except where I make it obvious by using Italics.

It might be of interest to some of you to know that most aircraft and even trains base their oil changes or even engine or gearbox changes on UOA results, not hours. There is an hours limit for most aero engines but UOA has been a requirement for commercial aviation for years, due to the fact it can often detect a fault developing in an engine or turbo prop gearbox very early or indicate the oil needa changing before the max limit.
The cost of that analysis was expensive, but new spectrometers have reduced it to 20 to 25 dollars, so it is now an economic way to get a real answer rather than just hoping the averages work.

One thing I don't understand is why a poster who says he follows Volvo recommendations then changes his oil every 6K miles? Volvo list 10K as the max, so most owners assume their car is subject to severe service use, which may or may not be true. Only UOA can answer that question correctly.
