@ brickman, more bother than it's worth for me. I think in 3 years I've only used the lights 3 or 4 times during my ownership

I took the C70 for a drive today.
A lot of folks put their cherished cars away for the winter and leave them until spring. I prefer to keep it road legal and take out for a run as and when the roads are dry and free from salt - today was one of those days. So, fired her up, dropped the roof and enjoyed a 20 mile drive on dry roads in the sunshine. Not that I needed reminding, but it did remind me why I love the C70.

You've only turned the headlights on 3 or 4 times during ownership??? ![]() Talking about the internal grain of wheat bulbs that are in almost every switch in the car, not the cabin lights ![]() LED's also wouldn't dim, feature that so many new cars don't even have. Recenlty had a bunch of new hire cars, some nasty plastic tippy over faux suv things from Vauxhall and the french brands (C3 cactus was actually good though, makes a great utility hatch), a few vans and a new E class. All had the same problem, too many touch screen and complex gestures required to get basic functions done like adjusting volume, track, temp or fan speed. E class had 3 screens in it, but even on 'min brightness' driving demanding roads at night for long periods of time is hard due to having all these screens ruining your night vision ability, borderline dangerous IMO. Was nice having my knee's lit up purple and blue though, really hard to find a vein in these cars! Sprinter van was good though, minimal nonsense, but had touch gesture buttons on steering wheel, which of course don't work if your hands are even slightly wet or have any dirt on them, so basically unusable by anybody couriering, building trades or using the van on a farm. Suzuki swift though, basic feeling inside, but drove like a dream, had real knobs and dials with minimal touch screen stuff, a 'cheap' car, but a good one. |

Finally got around to replacing the diesel spill-off hoses on the V70 Tdi with the stuff Brickman suggested back in December. The hoses I'd fitted in December were already showing signs of deterioration.

Upgraded my 1995 850 T5 interior lights to LED, having previously done my 2009 V70 2.5T. Amazing difference.
I have also replaced all the dash and ECC unit bulbs on the 850 after the handbrake one went out. As the top of the dash was off I thought is might be a good time in case others went out. All the other bulbs were original but working. They were blackened inside the glass but amazingly still put out light. The new bulbs lit the dash up like a Christmas tree. Now I have to dim them down.

Today I finally got round to fitting the OEM front cross brace that I bought several years ago.
I know that sounds like wilful neglect, but as the car has only had the odd Italian tune up/hot clean cat mileage on the way to the MOT tester and back in the last 3 years it isn't so bad; I've finally made the decision to get it all sorted for the summer - currently showing 41,348 miles ![]() Next on the sort list is replacing the N/S front window cartridge and replacing the N/S door lock - oh the joys of cable-based winder drums NOT ![]() In the next month or so, I'm determined to complete the upgrades to the bigger front discs, with caliper extension bracket plates using new bolts & slide pins, replacing the rear disc/drums with OEM's, OEM pads and shoes all round. Completing the upgrade with a Witter tow bar to tighten up the rear end. All the brake bits and pieces, sourced from Sweden by FRF Swansea, have sat in the garage waiting to be fitted since October 22 - praying for a few sunny days to get it sorted. All I have to do now is work out how to clean the green algae from the rag top without bleaching it! - Someone suggested mild Milton solution, but given my experiences over 40 years ago with Milton when our children were in nappies - not too sure whether that is a sensible cleaning method. If anyone has experience of cleaning a green alga soiled hood, I would be very pleased to hear how it was done.
