1.6 is underpowered. Go for the 1.8 or 2.0 if you're buying an NA engine.

I would go for a 1.8, mate.
1.6 is underpowered, for the weight of the car. 2.0 is even more powerful, but a little less economical. Gary

I test drove a 1.6 S40 and it was a bit slow to be honest, compared to the 1.8. I think the VVT was on the way out as well. Which was bad considering it was at a volvo dealer, also I could be wong but VVT failure seems more common on the 1.6 from what I've heard.
Is this diesel not anywhere near you Batley West Yorkshire, it's a good price I would have liked to have had a look but it was too far for me. Been on ebay a couple of weeks though so may have an issue: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1208307342...84.m1423.l2649

fine IF you want to stop the misses speeding, and make sure she doesnt go too far (will take ages to get there), for the weight of the body 1.6 is Rather under powered.

Really it's done 130K but doesn't mention any service history.

Surely this is a selling point? Why not in the listing itself..
Hopefully it all goes well for you and you enjoy your new car
