Removed the front pads om my S80 and roughed them up on a some emery paper as they were looking a bit glazed and applied lashings of copper slip.I need to do the back ones next. I do this on every "new to me" car before the winter. Also I'm doing new track control arms next week as one of them is a bit notchy.

Loving the S80......2.4 petrol and it flies up hills!

Hello, Go and read post #66 in this thread. I had to do it again because the controller I got from the breakers went bad as well. They were quite good about it and sent me another on my word. All I need do now is return the "bad" one. Kira

Another weekend on tidying up the bodywork on my S60. I had some dents on the rear passenger door which I could probably have got a mobile repairer to fix but, instead, I bought a replacement from ebay - came with all ancilliaries attached - except for the inner trim panel - for about £50.

Replacement took me about 30 minutes yesterday. Used a jack to take the weight of the door and father in law to help balance it. Only 5 bolts to remove and replace. All done and dusted. Looks great.

I took today off especially to finish of some minor problems with the car seeing as I knew it was going to be dry and sunny although -2°C this morning, it did warm up a bit. I had JUST got started when I got a call from the school to go and get my daughter as she had passed out in the playground, she's fine now but a tad worrrying. Got back and I replaced the oil filter housing which was seeping oil. The new one was a LOT tighter than the old one and so far is not loosing any oil. I tidied up the cabling and clips the dealer had left off and broken, replaced the near-side headlamp bulb and skimmed my disc(see other post). I replaced the cloth seats a few weeks ago with lavly leather ones and I hadn't got round to fitting the door cards so I did that today too. Gave it a wash and blew the tyres up.

MOT is on Saturday and I've spent the last 4 weekends and today squaring this car up! Only thing they may pull me up on is the rear box is rusty although not leaking much or dangerous. Reasons for MOT failure on an exhaust are excessive noise or leaking or broken mounts, so I should get away with it.

....forgot to mention that when I was replacing the dip bulb, the insulator over the spade terminal fell apart when I unplugged it. I think it's because the spade terminal itself was loose and is causing the connector to heat up and bake the plastic. I squeezed the spades to make a better connection.

I did my rear bumper, but after a few weeks it began to look patchy.

Does yesterday count?? Anyway, yesterday I replaced the front left outer cv joint, and also replaced both sets of front disc pads.

Next week will be to replace both front lower ball joints.

The following week............
