I think digital TV tends to require a higher gain which is why they are often a different design of element and an additional amplifier. With analogue, a weak signal will result in a poor picture, but with digital it's pretty much all or nothing.

Have you tried driving the loft around to see what the reception is like on the move?

Could you advise me on the merits of that as well?

In all seriousness, can the Volvo aerials be removed and the digital ones put in their place? Where are the existing aerials?

The elements are built into the rear side windows. They are the brown strips that look like a heated rear window element.

Sorry guys im still laughing about the Loft aerial posts

Although both are valid questions the thing here is that

1 Any aerial high up is great for reception no matter what CB / TV / Radio Ham

2 as your house wont be driving around the streets then yes the pictures will be great

3 as we are in a car and parked at differant places the signal will be weak hence the POWERED 12v aerial as it has a 20db gain which means that the signal is type of Boosted / Amplified which is what we want

Remember me saying about the TV starting to pixal and freeze at the services. . so with 2 aerials its a bonus

I must admit I never even considered trying the original Volvo ones ( which infact do have Amps built in ) but its getting the feed to the Free view box?

And thinking of a bonus I went to see a few old mates got stuck in traffic due to the snow we had . . . any way sat with engine running keeping warm and watched TV. . oh the joy to sit in comfort and it only seemed like 5 minutes what away to get rid of the blues and traffic jams i'm well chuffed I did it

Is the remote magic eye lead very long?

If the power is only connected to the switched source (I'm going to use the front cigarette lighter and run the wires to the boot), does the system remember any presets and/or the last position if using the USB facility

Looking to install it once the weather gets a bit warmer!
Any idea on the above questions? Gaz any help appreciated mate

Hey Vince

Yes the remote is very long the magic eye . . .in fact mine is next to the Panel the TV pops up from
and then runs all the way to the cargo bay so It's pretty long at 5mtrs

Re the presets yes there all stored once set and when you power off and on there all still in the same place just like using the radio

USB ?
The USB I must admitt im not to bothered about and I have not used it yet
