I chose Yokohama Geolander G055's (235 60 18). Already had one fitted a couple of months ago so matched it up after a puncture the other day. £360 for 3. They even threw in 4 wheel alignment for £45.

Interesting. Mine are 255/50R19 but I'm running the standard Volvo non-"Eco" 35psi. On my factory fit Pirellis I found the 39psi "Eco" pressure a little too firm. Maybe I'll drop Nokian a line and see what they recommend. |

Got 4 x 19" Nokian's from Openeo last week, delivered directly to Elite Wheels and Tyres in Reading and had them fitted and tracked (Hunter System).
Tyres were £131 each (255/50/R19) Fitting £60 (all four) Tracking £90 Factory fitted Pirelli PZero Rosso's were getting low on the front after 22K miles. Have kept the rear originals as spares since they have some life left in them. |

Just ordered my Nokian WR3's from Oponeo!
£111 each, including delivery to my local garage. Really happy!! Then a little trip into Bristol to Protyre for the 4 wheel alignment - it's like a little early Christmas present to myself! Big thanks to all the contributors on this (rather lengthy!) post. It's been a fascinating read. Some form of sticky is definitely a good idea.. Stu |

Word of caution. I checked my tyre pressures and in the two weeks they've been on I'd lost about 3 or 4 psi on each tyre. Presumably settling in but worth checking. |

I've been reading this thread with great interest. Our original Continentals are nearly at an end (21k miles) and I'd like to get some new ones on before the worst of the weather comes.
Local dealer (who I trust) has given me prices and it's a matter of deciding between 2 of them: Nokian WR SUV3 Pirrelli Scorpion Verde There's only a few quid apiece difference, so that's not really relevant to the decision. I get the impression that that Nokians will do better if we do get snow and are generally better in cold and wet conditions - but it doesn't snow much, does it? The Pirrellis are described as 'all season' and reviews indicate that they are very quiet and may improve mpg. Both are reckoned to do 30k miles at least. I have probably rejected the third option of Vredstein Quatrac 3's and also they are more expensive. How to decide between Nokian and Pirrelli? Please don't suggest any others - it's taken me long enough to get the list down to two. |
