No. Still no car. My car was built on 28/8. On the 31/8 the government appointed emissions test people took my car from the factory to god knows where and will keep it for up to four weeks. During this time no one can tell me what they will do. Not happy at all. 😡

Sorry, admit to losing track.

Not wishing to add to your misery but I'd demand to know from the dealer exactly what is happening to your car in terms of the testing it's undergoing. Are they revving the hell out of it? Taking bits off for examination? Are techies crawling all over it? Is it becoming a used car?

I think some financial (or other) compensation is due.

That's not on at all, some random tossers cocking around with your car doing whatever to it - during the run-in period as well where I expect it'll be left idling for hours, potentially harming long term power/economy. You just don't know. This shouldn't happen to a customer car - Volvo should compensate you somehow. :|

When my wife ordered an Audi A1 the same happened to her. We complained and got £500 compensation and as her old car was at the end of a PCP, she got a loan car until hers was delivered. Worth asking.

PS
I am waiting on an XC60 - hope mine arrives on time.

I have the same worries - what are they doing to my car? It's kinda taken the shine off the whole brand new car thing, it's now a used car. I'm not at all happy with the way the dealers have dealt with it too, or haven't dealt with it as I've had to contact them again and again for updates rather than them keeping me informed.
But, in a fit of angry internet searching I've found a almost new xc90 that is an inscription pro with all the conceivable extras rather than the momentum pro with all the extras I had ordered, and I'm beginning to wonder wether to tell the dealer to poke it and buy the used one from a different dealer. Now that my brand new car is actually a used car.
£500 compensation is pants - if I decide to still go ahead then I want much more as it's a used car.

I really feel for you. I'm not sure what I would do in your situation, except feel bloody angry and frustrated.
I'm surprised that they allow this to happen to a car that is allocated to a customer. In my opinion they should choose one that is allocated to a dealer for a demonstrator, which will then get sold on as a 2nd hand vehicle.
I would definitely think about rejecting the car.
Hope things work out for you, which ever way you decide to go.

It is incredibly frustrating. I'm afraid I suspect that the inspection process must be allowed to pick a car entirely at random from the production line. If the manufacturer were to have any input in the vehicle selected, then it could be argued that the tests are not random or fair.

However Volvo should immediately do something to resolve the situation for the customer. Its not that unthinkable that a replacement car could be put into production immediately, to minimise delay to a few days, and the inspected car sold as Volvo stock.

That's a fair comment and agree that Volvo should send out a replacement car, that would at least keep the customer happy.
