Well finally I'm getting the brakes done.. I'm doing front and read, pads and discs.
The mechanic at work is doing them on Sunday for a bargain! And then in the afternoon I'm popping into Kwikfit to get the aircon regassed... it's so hot I need cold air so bad!!!!!! I ordered new number plates today also... I need to get that EU flag off my car immediately!!! |

Make sure they put a vacuum on it for long enough, most garages will only do 10 minutes, volvo reccomends an hour, but anywhere from 30-45minutes is probably enough. I had mine done a few month's ago, but as they didn't vacuum it enough, when they filled it, it was equivalent of over gassed (by quite a lot) which caused too much resistance and it would cut out after a varying amount of time. When it does work, the climate control on these cars is very good! Comparible with a fairly current car |

Must get mine done too, my a/c was very weak when I got the car, compressor would click on and off, does nowt now, so hopefully a regas will sort it.
My back brakes seem all good after the rebuild too! Plugs in the next day or two and air filter ready for the MOT!

Well the compressor comes on, but the air is certainly not freezing.
I got the new indicator lenses through today, so I'll swap them tomorrow to. The cars coming along nicely, I'm pretty pleased. Do you think your's will need anything for the MOT? |

Well that's the front pads/discs replaced, and the brake fluid replaced, and wow what a difference... the car holds a straight line under braking now!!!!
The aircon now registers at 3degrees... and the drive home from work tonight was fabulous! Windows up, aircon on... if anything I felt CHILLY!!!!! I popped in some forte seal conditioner today, I don't have any leaks, but it can't do any harm. I also MUST swap the front indicator lenses with my new ones.. but I keep forgetting dammit! Now, I get a small squeal when I pull away in first gear.. only for half a second, but it does it everytime, and only in first when I initially pull away. The clutch is fine and bites half way. The guy who did the brakes said he suspects the thrust bearing may be the culprit, but he admitted he didn't really look. So, what's the score guys, is it a common problem? If it is the bearing, should I get the clutch done at the same time as the bearing? If it is the bearing, I'll probably get it done on my next pay day, 4 weeks away, but of course I need to be sure. |
