Initially I had no dashboard messages at all, but after approx 4 miles it came up with engine system service required, or similar message, which I cancelled by pressing the button on the end of the indicator stalk.
The amount of smoke did seem less than before I fitted the blanking plate, but I wondered if it will remain smoky for a while, until the engine "gets used to it".
Does anyone have any experience of this and coudl comment on time taken to see results?
Results should be pretty instant AFAIK. The smoke is the active results of the engine combustion and I doubt much of it is older particulates that would be pretty caked on.

With regard the longer term, I think mine made a difference but I noticed the other day it is still smoking somewhat. It's been in for a few months now, done about 5k miles.

It's pretty hard to see as its coming from a low point out the back of the car so its really difficult to quantify how much it has improved. Think I'll make a video soon of mine under heavy acceleration with and without the plate in. Be interesting to see how it differs...

Thanks for your comments oneilldom
I have only done a couple dozen local miles since putting the plate in but I do believe the amount of smoke is significantly reduced. Next week I will drive Falmouth - Crewe - Brum - Falmouth so it will get a good blow through. The best time to gauge the amount of smoke is at night when there's a car behind you with headlights on - if the car disappears in a cloud of smoke when you accelerate you know it's puffing a bit :-)
