Interesting to see that the Swedish Feds used the secondary spare wheel hitch point - does anyone know if this was due to them running twin spares, or because the spare wheel well was taken up by other stuff (e.g. equipment / larger, long range fuel tank etc)? Btw, for anyone wanting a cheap cover for the wheel when using that location, the (in boot) spare wheel cover for a Rover 2000 / P6 fits very nicely, and looks totally period correct.

As I recall it was because the well was taken up with all the extra equipment and it was of course more secure in the well.

They were 15X6. I know I spent a great deal of time figuring out the right size but I forget, I owned that car 20 years ago!

I remember I picked a 205 or 215 tire and then picked the profile/height ratio to match the height of the stock 165R15 tires the car came with as I wanted it to fill the wheel well and show correct speed on the speedo.

Speaking of different wheels for the Amazon, here is an intriguing thought:

Just for giggles, I borrowed these Bullitt Mustang 17X8 ! wheels from my tire guy to see if they fit the Volvo wagon.

They FIT. Well, I would have to rework the brake line routing in the front, steering stops and the center caps. But still, kind of exciting. I don't know how it would look with tires on them, it may overpower the whole look?

Of course, this would put a new meaning to Armstrong power steering!!

They'd look like this with those 17*8" Mustang wheels, don't know the tyre sizes the guy used but know it was lowered a touch, pinched the pics just because ummm

Mmm...thanks Amma. Now when I see them on the car I am not sure if I am feeling it, they look too modern for the car.

I think a set of straight spoke 15 inch Americans with "normal" tire profile would look more correct.

Here's mine on the road having just dragged it from a garage in Weston-S-Mare where it had been hibernating for the last 26 years.

Next shot is around 2 1/2 years later, parked up while on holiday in Oxfordshire earlier this year - its first major shakedown. Apart from leaky screen rubbers and a whistling NS quarterlight she didn't miss a beat!

Ditto, and lovely wheels too. Very glad to see that you kept them - btw, what size are they, and are they Cobra Superslots?
