This one is on AGAIN and his comment on reserve is amusing “resisted due to reserve not being met so lowering reserve even further”. Maybe he should lower his expectation further

I would be interesting if this was circa £1k and was closer to me. Its just too far and even the startign price is a bit high for my liking.

What is this car worth? I suppose it is no worse than the car in Bude that sold for a grand, and two or three auctions ago it did get a bid at about £1,700 - so one would have to say something between £1,000 and £1,700. Why the seller thought it might go for £5,000 in the first place is beyond me. It depends on what you are looking for, this car had a lot of issues to get through the last MoT (I think the history is included somewhere in the thread above) and still needs a repair to the fuel gauge (at least). If you want a project that is a runner and rider but aren’t too fussed about it becoming an historic car then this one at up to £1,500 is probably okay. Once you have factored in your costs to collect that still might be high.

I'd tend to avoid anything rusty (a bit difficult with 240s!) as unless you can do it yourself then chasing rust around gets expensive and time consuming. Something like the Bude car at about a grand would be sensible.

None of the UKDM 240s were (or intended to be) a ball of fire in terms of performance and you may find you struggle to achieve the time to get to the station from your first page/contact. Also the fact it's an ongoing project may compromise you at certain times. If that isn't a consideration, then go for it!

It might even be a genuine bid!
