Can't we have a conversation on both sides?

I have a semi-EV hybrid but garages are struggling to get people capable of changing an oil filter correctly, let alone replace a battery pack. My Volvo cut out because the Dealer hadn't changed the fuel filter correctly, which is a basic job.

I would counter that there is a risk as pure EVs get older of cars needing battery or other related work, being done very badly.

Sorry James, I'm used to facebook/twitter/glp where insults come thick and fast. Occasionally, I don't tone it down enough for tame sites.

Had a nice new XC40 recharge loan car the other day.

Everything about it was positive apart from the range from cold - 190m, fully charged.
One of my regular trips is 195m.

When we're up to a guaranteed 300+ , I would have one.

Parts of Cumbria got battred by snow over the weekend, but things are now getting back to normal.

Mrs Mint Cake is driving from Keswick to Kendal through the Lakes and the roads are now passable.

What is making driving hard work, is the number of cars that have been abandoned at the side of the road and in a few instances, in the middle of the lane, forcing people to drive into the oncoming lane to get past them.

& a large proportion of them are Tesla's and leccy cars - presumably where they've "gone flat" and now need a recovery vehicle to remove them.

I actually thought about the business idea of a mobile fast charger pack to deliver to out of charge motorists.

I worked through the scenario above (but on a motorway like the M74) where a group of cars were stuck between junctions in snow as heated seats or heating would have drained the battery in under 12 hours.

I gave up pursuing the idea because I would not have been able to get to the scene in my diesel 4x4 because the road would be blocked.

Over to the A A, RAC and the wombles....

And they could only do so much, as the roads were blocked by out of charge/abandoned leccy cars !

Possible but unlikely, the battery lasts for ages if you aren’t moving and just heating/ cooling the car. Most likely that they are known to be especially awful to drive in the snow and are stuck.

Possibly - but these were abandoned in the middle of the lane, as though they'd just packed up, rather than being stuck at the side of the road.

Thumbs down

And yet the Norwegian’s have no issues…. Lectric cars are popular over there too.
