A very elegant money pit for the unwary. The interior is very shabby, I can smell the damp. Although the description states no corrosion evident, I wonder how much filler is under the paint, the nearside sill is full of it as evidenced by the ripples reflecting in the light. The wipers don't park correctly and the wheel disc trims need refurbishment, very costly. I would estimate the reserve being £30,000.

I've never understood why people do that. Many moons ago i heard of a Series II Jag XJ being converted from the original V12 to a diseasel.

Destroyed a perfectly good sporting saloon by fitting a lorry engine! It needed written warning 3 weeks in advance to overtake anything but it did 30mpg! Wow! Was it worth it?

If you want fuel economy then you don't buy a luxury car to start with.

Years ago it was nearly always that boat anchor of an engine, the Perkins 403.

You mentioned an XJ converted to diesel, a buddy put a 403 in , God it was a dire POS.

Land Rovers by the thousand, similarly condemned.

Don’t get me wrong, I like my diesels , modern ones!🧐

It may well have been a Perkins, can't remember now as i wasn't interested in it - just sacrilege to do that in the first place!

I've never been a fan of diseasels and that was before i discovered the health problems they cause. I always think you should never trust a fuel that goes bang without an external ignition source.

Indeed, and it’s not the usual nappy brown colour either.

Think of it as a 2 door shooting brake 😀😀

That's exactly what was in the collective mind at BL when this was concieved (oh jeez, we're back to nappies again!) and the "Lifestyle Estates" such as the Scimitar GTE, Lancia Beta HPE and so on.

The best part of this one is that it had a documented resto.

I noticed they've called it "Jenny IV" according to the sticker on the tailgate, with a registration like that i would call it "Jessicar".
