I am feeling kind of unsure about what I think of the parts for this mod, so I am going to assume the critisisms will start flying... ha ha... I really think (Really Hope) the ring being made part of the fender to finish it out, and the lens being the only stand alone part, will shrink the overwhelming appearance...
The new headlight ring is actually only a 1/4 inch wider, and 3/4 inch taller that the factory bezel and headlamp assembly. Once the ring becomes part of the fender work and is painted, the width of the light is actually a 1/2 narrower and a 1/4 inch shorter.... So by the measurement, I am actually installing a smaller assembly, but it sure doesnt look like it... Here are a few comparisons of Factory and Modded...

Yuk... Looks like Beetle lights. Takes away the length shape of the side panels.
What are you going to do to the grill and grill edge? |

It has the coke bottle glasses effect, so a bit of trial and error to work out what looks good. You can't get everything right first time on a project. Couple of suggestions, a clear front lens and then set the light back in but vertical like the concept or maybe more oval lights like the new Mini lights.

Really enjoying reading your progress on this build!
Regarding the raked back lights, to my eyes, the issue is that they are too far forward, & thus appearing to be protruding too far from the wings - whilst the regular lights are also protruding, the effect there looks right. This issue also affect the concept renderings. Is there space to set the headlights back further, so that there is a smoother transition from the lower forward edge of the wing into the headlights?

I going to weld the grille shell to make it part of the body, so it will be blended and painted like in the rendition. The only stand alone part of the grille will be the mesh in the opening and an inner shell ring.. I will also be altering the grille shell to give it the more dramatic pitch in the rendition, and take some of the flatness out..

Take a look at the pictures below, and see if I am running in the same thing after the only part left is the Lenses....The Lense is an Oval Lense, I would never think it could be pulled off with a standard round lense...ha ha

I have decided to do some quick body work with white masking tape, do you think it will hold up? ha ha The chrome ring and cut metal was too overwhelming in the pictures, in person it didnt look as bad. I got nervouse every time I looked at the pictures being posted, so here are some with the Taped Body Work... LOL I hope these pics better communicate what will actually be going on... I think you have to keep in mind the position of the car and that when it is on the ground there will be a completely different perspective...
