Hello Arianne, may remember me from 12mths ago. sorry to read your unfortunate tales about your xc60, you may remember I sold mine after just about 4 months to get back into TDV8 range rover all I can say is i'm glad I did, yes I lost a lot of money swapping cars but I am happy with my RR its ride comfort is unmatched by anything else and there is no substitute for raw horse power. Its a shame that IMO volvo lets it self down in so many ways because I think the xc60 could be a brilliant car. Any way all the best to you and I hope your car situation is resolved even if that means ditching the volvo.
PS. the xc70 is by far a better drive and ride. just thought i'de throw that in for any devoted xc60 lovers.

Funny, I did exactly the opposite with the same feelings. RR to XC60. We should have swapped. Lovely engine though and surprisingly economical.

Hi Woodchip, yes, I do remember you as it was in early 2014 - ah, those heady days. Thanks for taking the time to post. I don't think I am feeling so bad at this stage but the current direction of travel isn't too encouraging. Best wishes to you down there in lovely Kendal. We enjoy staying at The Inn on The Lake, Glenridding, Ulswater and lunch in their Orangery is excellent too. I think I told you then that you're very fortunate to be living in The Lakes......and you still are!

I haven't heard from my dealer either. I will mention this possibility when we speak. We're into uncharted territory. Thanks again.

What model XC70 are you thinking of? I like the XC70 a lot and I think it is underrated but I didn't think it was better than a MY 2015 4C chassis XC60 to drive by any means. And the XC60 has a much better interior. The extra length of the XC70 is useful though.

I prefer the drive and comfort and interior of the previous version of the V70 to the current XC70 if I was going to pick a 70 class car. Of course if I needed AWD for the trip I might reconsider that. Haven't tried this years model either.

Hello ROY, I had a 2013 xc70 D5 se lux nav in bronze with beige leather, I bought it as a ex demo with 2500 miles on it, it was compleatly full loaded. I liked it for the first 5 days and then hated it for the next 3 months, untill the day before my new xc60 was to be delivered when I realized that actually it was a really good car very comfy and fast, the interior was smart it even had a half wood steering wheel which i came to really like. It just wasn't a range rover, as I had sold a vogue se to buy the xc70. So the xc60 D5 se lux came which was surpossed to be a bit closer to the RR. now, I like the volvo designs and the overall feel of volvos but I just thought the ride comfort of the xc60 was terrible buy that I mean you could feel ever bump in the road even on 18 pan alloys and on narrow lanes I got giggled about in my seat, i also thought the engine lacked torque and was a bit noisy.
But I will be the first to admit I was comparing it to a RR with air suspension and 313hp under the foot so not a fair comparrison.
I have a RR now and love it but also have a 2006 citroen van which we use a as a dog van etc. i'm pretty sure that it will be sold and replaced with another xc70 just as soon as I can get what I want for the money.
And I havn't rulled out a new shape xc90 to replace the RR when the time comes although it wont be a new one.

Yep, Arianne, i'm still in kendal lovely in summer dire in the wet winter months.
All the best.

Err, sort of.......

So I hadn't heard by midday and so contacted Volvo Customer Services again. I spoke to the same person who apologised for not getting back to me. They said I would hear further from them or the dealer before the end of today.

I have received two emails when I got home. Volvo Customer Services explained in their email that the matter has been escalated with Volvo Technical & Sweden. That the matter is technical and so not their area of expertise. The dealer is now back in the driving seat, as it were. Nothing else.

The dealer has sent me another email. Again, very personal and decent. They want one more go, tell me that they have now got 'real-time' support 'minute by minute' with Volvo Technical and that they want the car back to finish the job.

What else can I do? So it'll go back to them for the sixth time.

Yes it's annoying, no it doesn't seem right but........that's life. I have to deal with the reality and the reality is that my particular car has a persistent problem that nobody is finding easy to solve. That's that, it seems.

I guess the only thing that continues to bug me is that nobody at Volvo feels inclined to make a gesture of goodwill (no matter how modest) in recognition of the frustration and inconvenience we've experienced - including the fact that I have been driving a car with an underperforming engine for most of the winter months. That's not been my experience of customer service with Amazon, Ovo energy or Charles Thwytt when things go wrong - these type of companies offer some token of understanding before you even raise the matter with them.

Anyway, I could go on but you all have lives to lead! Whatever.....

Arianne

Well at least something is being done about it now it has been escalated, and you have your dealer working with you.
Assuming a solution is obtained for your current car, like you I would expect Volvo to offer some form of compensation for all your hassles but it will be in kind rather than a direct financial payment. As I presume you already have a service plan, you had better look at a dealer supplied/fit accessory as a starting point that your dealer can get a HO special contribution for you.

Arianne, pleased you are getting the attention this deserves.
Offer to stress test the new XC90 for them whilst yours is being upgraded!
