And at that time those Inscription seats were more comfortable compared to the r design ones. so why didn't i choose the Inscription lineup? Because i liked more the r design one. Specially on the outside. I should have ordered the Nappa leather seats instead of opting for the r design standard ones.(standard Nubuck). But i didn't want to spend money on the seats as it was an extra. My bad.👎🥴🥺😬🤦
Same length, not as wide!

I guess we all tend to agree that the R-Design seats back in 2017 were worst than the R-Design ones from nowadays. Probably they changed something. My XC60 is MY19. My seats are probably the same "version", line, ergonomic design, whatever you want to call them, from the ones familymangreg experienced in the XC90 MY17 some years ago. As he said and I quote him:

"The only thing against the Volvo seats I would say is in earlier R-Design (XC90 MY17 probably), I found the Nubuck sports seats a little tight around the thigh, and this is one reason for going for Inscription initially. Not the case in my 2021 XC90 R-Design Pro, they feel a little wider."

So there you go. mystery solved. precisely what i feel. And as i said before and he also says above, i should have ordered the Inscription seats. But i didn't. It is what it is. I can't change my decision. Now i have to deal with it or sell the car, but because selling it now it's not an option, (car hasn't even made 4 years and even with some things i don't like, there's also things i like in the car or i wouldn't have buy it in the first place, so i guess i have to deal with it.

I come to my S90 from years of E Class Mercedes ownership and the Volvo seats are the worst I have ever had. Feels like sitting on a plank off wood and leaves my legs numb after even short drives. Will be getting rid as soon as I can and into something else as it's beyond unpleasant on long journeys.

My wife has a Ford Fiesta Vignale and even that is MUCH more comfortable than the Volvo.

When I test drove I didn't notice, and several people I know who had owned Volvo cars told me they would be the comfiest seats I had ever sat in. God knows what they had driven previously if they thought these are fantastic.

Thought I'd just drop in the opinions of my wife and I....

Wife has had a succession of SUVs and me, exec saloons.
Both our current Volvo (MY2022 XC60 R-design) and previous (MY2020 XC40 R-design) have the most comfortable seats of any car and my wife is very fussy. Prior to the XC40 she had a VW Tiguan and hated the VAG seats with a passion, similar with a Kuga prior to that.
My previous Mercedes, despite being very comfortable, still wasn't a patch on either of the Volvo's.
Being honest if it wasn't for the comfortable seating we wouldn't have purchased another Volvo after issues we'd had with our XC40

So bottom cushion have been exchanged, no significant improvement noticed
Hope it will be better over time as prior to the exchange had a feeling it was better then initially...

Still have an issue with part when extension right bottom part reaches the seat - feel pressure from it under right leg, left is fine. Extension fully retracted.

This in general it is an issue with extension part - way it's designed makes whole construction hard, lot of metal bars etc which are not fully covered by cushions.

To summarize will test it during vacation and in case it is still not comfortable will visit Volvo again although cannot see what they can do more...

Use the central button on the side of the seat to lower the seat fully back and front, extend the booster if you like it extended and then raise the seat until you find a comfortable place, it's normally the tilting up of the front of the seat that cuts the blood off behind the knee that causes the problem, the seats are too low anyway imo which isn't a problem if you are average height but this Harlem Globetrotter had to choose between either no head room or sitting too low.

So do you suggest to keep front in the lowest position and back as high as possible to flatten tilt as much as possible? And what about extension? When it's detracted feel pain from metal bar at the and of the seat near the extension

Na, you want the back of it at the best height for you and the front tilted up no more than a smidgen (little bit) so you still have it angled upwards at the front but you should feel for your back thigh to not be touching the furthest edge of the extender, how tall are you and what would you say your leg to body ratio is, i.e are you long legged and shorter body torso, or 50/50 symmetrical, short leg long torso?
