Just insured my wifes car with A-Plan, exceptionally good value. Found them to be £60 CHEAPER than the best quotes on Confused.com and moneysupermarket.

Asked them why they were so competitive, they said that in their branch (Newbury) they do a lot of internet forum advertising, and then rely on people like me to back it up and say how good they are on the forums. I said you ought to give me a discount, and I got £20 off.

If you dont ask you dont get!!!!!

Just to add my voice to the many members here who've had a good deal from A-Plan Insurance ... mine came up for renewal last week, and Leo at A-Plan was able to provide me with a cracking deal that was 30-odd quid cheaper than any comparable policy found by confused.com or similar sites. My renewal premium from Churchill wasn't actually all that bad, but A-Plan's deal was better, pure and simple.

The young lady at Churchill got quite shirty with me when I phoned up to tell them I wouldn't be renewing, she suggested that she put me through to someone who might be able to get me a better deal, and I replied that if they had a better deal to offer they should've quoted it at the outset rather than waiting to see if I took the bait and renewed at an artificially-inflated premium!

And here's another vote for A-Plan.
I've just had my renewal from Highway, via Chris Knott. £352 (including their 'brokerage fee'), with a £200 excess.
A-Plan = £250 with a £50 excess.
I wonder which I should go for? Hmmm, let me give that one some thought.:hmm4er:

I did, they can't get anywhere near it on premium or excess.

Hi, tried the same myself and no luck either ended up staying with Morethan and not modifying car but they were the cheapest by miles

I'm just in the process of getting a quote from A-Plan, at the moment the best quote (with my claim history) is about £570 from Confused.com (about £10 less than I got on one of the other comparison sites)

Had an amusing chat with A-Plan; they asked about how I knew of them, responded with I knew the bike shop that was on that corner before their office was built in Thatcham... that confused them having just given them a Blackpool address... until I said I used to live up the road from them (for 20yrs!)

Default Insurance for multiple Volvos

Swinton have done me very well until now - but now I have a problem:

I now have 3 Volvos.
My baby, the 745GLT 16V estate (1991)
The spare I bought to tow one weekend, a 765 Estate (B280) on a D (been having little bits done for 6 months, not on cover, and about to be sorned)
The one I just bought - 765 turbo Estate on an F.

What I want to do is sell the 765B280 (but insure it till then and maybe use her from time to time - see "blue smoke" below)
Put my baby in for some engine work but keep her insured
After getting the blue smoke fixed on the new one, use her until my baby is ready.

Swinton say they can't keep my baby insured and insure the new one (never mind the B280) unless I pay £700 (!!) for the new one 'cos my NCD is on my Baby.

Surely there used to be insurers who would let you put extra cars on your policy for virtually nothing to let happy petrolheads play musical cars - you can only drive one at once and that's where most of the risk comes???

It seems most classic car insurances will not let you do ANY business mileage.
I'm not sure anyone still does cover for vehicles not in use (used to be called "off-road cover" and I used to have it on a differnt vehicle from Adrian Flux.

Open to suggestions here....

(and I'm sure there used to be another thread about insurance - trying to find it now)
