Is what you said above the reply to the question you asked about the timing belt?

The desription of that 760GLE is completely lacking, doesn't mention the engine size or the fact the MoT expired on 7th November this year - soon to be last year! I was actually saving this for Andrew to fire back at the seller as he seems to have built a rapport now "If it had a timing belt fitted (it doesn't, it's chain driven) then it should be done on a time schedule as well as mileage. My Rovers were 96k miles or 8 years, going back to the 70s, most cars were 36k miles or 3 years. Rubber deteriorates over time (that's why old tyres go hard and crack/perish) so that has to be considered too." Your timing belt experiences drew the question of rubber ageing and that's what i was going to post earlier. Intended more for the seller of the car (i get the impression that it's an estate/bereavement sale and the seller knows 5/8 of 3/10 of diddly-squat about the car) than for those on here that already know the V6 had timing chains rather than a belt. I was just being mischievious when i suggested asking the seller about the timing belt as it seems the seller knows nothing about the car. I've lost count of the number of so-called mechanics that i've spoken to over the past 6-10 years and they've suggested the timing belt on cars i know don't have one.

Sorry chaps, I saw that last night, and the advert photos just made me giggle with the tartan blanket already in the boot😀😀, I didn’t mean it to be a serious contender as I hadn’t even looked at the MOT history.
See what you mean Andrew, underseal mentioned virtually every year back to 2014 or so, either covering up sins, or a pedantic tester, methinks the former is more likely👍👍 Happy Volvo hunting for the new year. Cheers Steve |
