Interesting !!
Does this make you able to specifically ask for the new tyres before you take delivery of your new car?

I wonder if factory orders now come with the new tyres?

Putting emotions aside and if after all the moaning one still has to pay I would like to hear opinions if it would be worth 500 quid to people that had them fitted.

Sorry for going over old ground, but I paid £55k for a "luxury" SUV with the "luxury" Inscription trim and I do not expect to have to pay more to get it to that level. My car is not acceptable with its current configuration for road noise. Many other areas are and exceed in some cases but not in this one area for me personally I am afraid.
Exactly. Concurred with Neon.
The car IS a luxury SUV with the 'fixes'.
The frustration for owners who weren't fully aware of the road noise in the first 30 days of ownership and who didn't exercise their rights under section 20 and 22 of the consumer act 2015 - is who will pay to bring their cars to a standard - which CAN be achieved.

Undoubtedly - but take out the tyre insurance!

Well I have been a guinea pig for over a year so it's pretty much guaranteed they will make me pay even if I have been moaning about this from new both here and on swedespeed more than anyone. I'd like to know if it's worth it. I don't have the luxury of rejecting the car or other such things. Is the noise improvement worth 500quid?

OK, couldn't resist any longer and called my dealer for an update on this late last week. They confirmed the tyres had just come available and asked for the current millage on my car so that they could pick it up with the Volvo warranty team.

I've spoken to them again today and they now need to see the vehicle to take a tread depth measurement from the current tyres to see what contribution Volvo will be willing to make.

Obviously I was initially told the tyres would be replaced under warranty (when I originally reported this to the forum on 23rd August). So am now somewhat disappointed that the situation has changed. I've made this clear to my dealer who still seem genuinely committed to in their words 'fight my corner'. So I don't think all is lost quite yet, but not as optimistic as I was :-(.

Next step is to get my vehicle in for a quick thread depth measurement, hopefully sometime this week if we can find time.

How many miles did your car have on it when you got new tyres. Who is your dealer I will ring them and see if they give me the same responce as my dealer, pm me if you do not want to put dealer on here. And for information I brought this problem up with Volvo within days of getting my car and told them in my opinion it was not fit for purpose and have been working very closely with Volvo and my dealer to resolve this. I feel that Volvo have used this good will on my part to work with them to get beyond the 30 day period.

It is a shame as the whole goodwill thing will potentially go out the window if Volvo start charging. I am not sure it is the owners fault if they flag this early on and then have to wait for a resolution to become available.

Other potential considerations for me are : how much is the "real" cost to Volvo. The calculation I would have thought should be based on cost to Volvo at the very least if this is the route being pursued. Volvo must have a very good commercial relationship with Continental.
I would also be looking at the inconvenience and time the customer has had to spend on this also and what is that worth.

After all this though I am still on the square of "please just give me the car I have paid for" as the headache should not be mine on resolving this.

There are two current threads regarding this issue - You have already asked me on #158 and #159 (new XC90 first impression) and I replied. My tyres had done 2115.
I will not name my dealer under any circumstances. You have just proved by your statement, regarding calling them, why I should not give out their details.
I know you will be upset at this but I am not blaming you for not exercising your rights. I was expressing my frustration also, at people who have not - in the giving time frame.

Anyone who PM's me asking for personal details ( I exclude you, as you have not) should also have the courtesy to explain who they are and at least a name, if they want a concise reply.

Does this mean that we'll always have to fit Conti silent to our cars or other noise cancelling tyres??

If using Neon's calculation (60% contribution from Volvo and him having to pay £549.71) from the other thread - they will be around £1200 for a full set fitted.
