Maybe there will be a flurry of bids at the last minute?

… it sold for £2,250, there were just 4 bids from 2 bidders. I thought that was quite a fair price.

You may be right about the rot Andrew, i still hold that it would be less rotten than a 145 pear though.

You are certainly right about the fortune being spent in the wrong places. It is beyond my understanding that folk think it a good idea to fit lowering springs and engine performance enhancements costing thousands to cooking motorcars, and in doing so reduce their values. There must be something I'm missing.

PS. I still think it amusing that the seller thinks the VWW might fetch nearly 5 grand. Perhaps he/she has watched too much Fast N' Loud. Maybe it would have been a good idea to advertise in the Hipster Herald?

This one should give us a good idea of the bottom of the market:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374771374...Bk9SR8TwuOieYg

... unfortunately it hasn't got much going for it:
  1. It is a VWW.
  2. It hasn't been used for 23 years.
  3. The car was first registered in January 1984 and has 133000 miles, so it won't qualify as an historic vehicle until April 2025.
  4. There are no keys.
  5. The car will need to be towed out of garage.
  6. It is a bit remote for most potential buyers (East Kilbride).

... plus it is a rustberg. I'll keep an eye on it, but I can't help thinking this one should reappear as spare parts via the scrap merchant.

It has little going for it ,in my opinion Alan. Judging by the logbook date ,the love affair has fizzled out from February.

Reduce to parts, buy dust pan and brush.

Real shame!🤨

This got to just £2,100 - which I thought a reasonable bid - but didn't reach its reserve. I suppose we see it a few more times until the seller's expectations become realistic.

Looks nice at first glance but closer inspection reveals lots of scruffy bits which sadly let it down. I suspect a shrewd buyer would only spend ~£1200 + buyers premium and use some of their budget to tidy the scruffy stuff.

Could be a good car for someone, if they don't mind that it's the 2.0 version of course.

If the body’s good Dave it could make a nice car. Mine’s two litre automatic, it gets there, just not quickly.

I’m never “in the way.”😁

The MOT history would suggest that the poor thing has not suffered from over maintenance.🤨
