Getting 37 MPG over the last week on my L reg (93) 2.0 20V 855 (according to the last "fill up" data). But that is trying not to accelerate hard and not use brakes excessively. Averaging 60 mph on dual carriageways etc.
Going to see what happens with an extra few pounds of air in the tyres...about the standard motorway pressures according to the manual. For the last few months I have been using Ordinary Unleaded from Total. I find the Total Excellium far too much of a hike to try at an extra 7p per litre! Mike

Had a trip down to London this weekend for an exhibition at Olympia (we had a stand there) and on a nice gentle motorway run (70mph on the cruise) for most of the journey, it's worked out at 37mpg, which I suppose is quite reasonable for the D5 185 XC90 Geartronic.

Just to add a possible source of problem...
I had an MOT in Jan with mine and they had problems with the Lambda sensor reading... after a fiddle with the electronical connections leading to the sensor (NOT THE SENSOR ITSELF), they got a pass reading from it. Since that day, my mpg has seemed much improved. I know you said you've had it serviced, but it might be worth having a play with that. I went for a run yesterday and got around 36-37mpg with the cruise control set a 60mph... it went considerably down when I got bored.... ![]() Might be worth a punt though, seemed to do the trick for me.

I have an early (1993) 855, so it does not have the OBDII facility inside on the console.
Does anypone here know if it is possible to convert the under bonnet Diagnostic connections to an OBDII compliant socket? I was interested in getting a Scangauge2 device to monitor the engine/fuel consumption. Or does anyone know how to retro fit a MPG meter of any sort...even the Volvo 850 version? Thanks Mike
