Just passed 270000 and since previous post have had new clutch and DMF at 210000,battery replaced at 230000.Only major issue was after "EPB service required" message came on intermittently(on one occasion for only 5 seconds) and parking brake light flashed at same time. When I went to start one morning the problem occurred again and this time I couldn't release the parking brake, resulting in local Indy replacing module, when I went to collect I sat in car and had same problem. After searching net I found lots of similar problems with Passats, most of which were the parking brake button, suggested this to Indy and not had the problem since.

09 plate V70 R-Design 2.4 D5 Geartronic

Purchased from a Volvo dealer in Jan 2010 with 15k on the clock
Always serviced and maintained by the selling dealership

Currently on 107,000, and it still feels as good as the day I bought it

Other than the routine services, including the cambelt change and the consumables like pads and discs, it's only had:
Battery
Power steering fluid reservoir
Windscreen after a stone chip turned into a long crack

Really loving how this car is ageing - as others have said it gives you confidence in the build quality and the reassurance of using genuine parts.

I try and keep a car as nice as I can, for as long as I can.
To this end I'll touch in any stone chips in the paint with the genuine Volvo paint pen, plus polish and wax it at least once a year.
I also do an annual clean and feed to the leather upholstery to avoid the tired look and dry / cracked leather.

Jobs to do are an AirCon re-gas (think it needs it at this age / mileage) and a refurb of the alloys

Only issue to report (and Volvo have noted it too) is the tailgate struts are getting a bit tired. It needs a bit of a push at the upper end of their travel. To fix this would probably be new tailgate struts, which I'm not sure I'll bother with at this age and mileage.

The Rescue Dog is a 2003 registered V70 D5 163BHP 5Speed manual. Today it is on 158,504 miles. Steadily improving as various areas of neglect are ticked off the list - wishbones, full set of Billies, squishy hoses, EGR clogging, back end wiring by Stevie Wonder... it was neglected in terms of replaceables, but underneath the grot was a dead straight, strong and rescuable motor. I expect to get at least 40,000 more miles out of it, possibly 100,000. Though I cheat, because most of my miles are long european blasts, two of which the Dog has already survived.

Where does one apply for the High Mileage Club stickers?

Four 95k/125k similar black S80 SE's went through Newport Auctions a few months back, they were Welsh Assembly cars with FVSH, nice alloys and wood steering wheels. They went for a song AFAIK.

They turned up on Autotrader Dealer pages for decent prices.

I'll be in the queue in 5 years time for the next batch!

All,

Still new to this forum, bought my first Volvo XC70 with 145,000 FDSH and I am hoping it will serve me well.

Just finished full brake refurb, dinitrol 4941 arches and underside, starting on wheel respray as alloys are curbed and show signs or rot under paint. New tyres arriving Monday, Pirelli Sotto zero which will be fit after.

Thanks to all in this forum for their help thus far, it makes my first Volvo ownership much easier with a helpful forum

Cheers all
