Smile Pictures as promised!!

Finally got round to hauling the left hooker out of the garage today....

This is the "auction" state of the car and the areas of corrosion i was talking about..

Thankfully mechanically it is excellent with no, rattles, squeaks bangs etc...

It's strange how this car has NO sunroof, No central locking, No Electric windows BUT has air conditioning, which works!!!

This car has obviously been used!!!!

I'm off Uni next week which will give me ample time to start repairing and spraying!!!!

Looks like you got yourself a bargain there. Shame about the rot around the side repeaters, though. However, someone is selling a pair of new 740 wings on eBay at the moment:

To keep costs down and value for money up, I'm going to repair the affected areas...

I've got a great idea for a badge to replace the affected areas on the front wings.

I work PT in a car accessary shop, and I have access to a number plate making machine. I am going to upload the attached image to the number plate software. I will then enlarge the image to a slightly larger size than the rusted areas where the side repeaters are. I will then print the image directly onto a white number plate backing and place the clear acrylic front on. It will then just be a case of cutting the finished number plate to size.

I will then cut out the rusted areas, apply proper ahesive and then stick the badges on. I will then fit clear universal repeaters above the badges ... job done.

As for the rest , it will be a case of stripping to bare metal, using an anti-rust agent, zinc primer and top coat. If anyone is interested I will submit pics of my repairs???

Why not buy a better one??? - I cant bare to see Volvo's go bad and its kinda fun too!!!!!

Sounds like a nice idea, but the non-standard side repeaters would drive me to distraction. If I were faced with a similar situation, I'd fit a good set of secondhand wings, which would probably only take two hours in total; even if they weren't the correct colour, I'd be quite happy as they would be easy enough to repaint later on

Hi all

Dilema...

Should I replace my instrument panel to a mph one or keep it Km/Hr for the authentic left hand drive experience? - Trouble is it can be tricky working out how fast im goin sometimes and I dont want to put those little stickers on the panel (you know the ones I mean!!)

Thanks.

Scott

I'd keep it as it is and learn off by heart the difference between KPH and MPH. It's actually quite easy to do
