I replaced these bushes with original volvo parts, and apparently the current part volvo supply is the 'police' version that is more durable (thats what the volvo parts person told me anyway).

If anyone intending to fit polybushes wants some used bushes for the centre pins ive got a pair (from 06 year car) but would probably cost some for postage as they arent light !
Correct Thassos and the Powerflex ones require that the ORIGINAL Volvo sleeves fitted in the arms are left in place.
So many people get mixed up by the fact that on trying to remove the original bushes , the centre rubber section pushes out leaving the ORIGINAL BUSH outer sleeve in place. This HAS TO BE REMOVED

Well, the one I removed is this new design and it clearly didnt last. Not sure when it was replaced, bought the car like this ....

Ive dremeled the powerflex bush to suit - almost getting the shaft through now. Thanks for the orientation - was aware of that.

The one I have only has 1 bush. There was no 2nd bush. If I remove the only remaining bush then there would not be anything for the powerflex bush to sit against.

Ill upload some pics.

Bad quality - took with phone in garage. You can see one metal sleeve, its the only sleeve on this non oil type fitment.

That arm is now ready to take the poly bush.

What we need to know is the O/D of the new OEM bush pictured in post #40 by Thassos.

I have a suspicion that this item is a direct fit into the alloy wishbone, and requires removal of the outer sleeve which remains after removing the outer casing of the original bush - as shown in the above post by Chasaxl.

That will require heat and a flypress - not a job for the average home mechanic.

Dont think so - Ive got the polyflex in without too much of a problem. Just cleaning up the shoulder on the inside so that the pin can go through. If you remove this bush, the powerflex will not have an 'end point' to grab onto. See pics below:-

Which part of 'that arm is now ready for polybush' did you not understand ?

My statement clearly referred to the modified OEM bush on post #40. The forum has been at the polybush stage for 18 months or more - see my post #32 on this thread for a comprehensive description.

I am interested to hear from our old friend Thassos on the O/D of the uprated Volvo OEM bush on post #40.

Smile OEM bush dia

Hi Chopper,

As you say this thrad has been going ages !,,

I measure (with a digital caliper), t= around 8c

Bush diameter

48.05 - 48.40mm dia depending on where you measure.

This is an old bush that has been pressed out of the wishbone, not new.

I was not aware that you were referring to different bushes - this is why I believe it was different to what I was using.

Smile Only one bush

The only slight differences to the OEM bush were down to the rubber part of it as far as im aware, ie

a- Early ones were rubber with oil void,
b- Rubber version only followed this
c- Improved police spec version followed this *

b&c dont have oil in them!

*this is the only part you can get through volvo now

As far as im aware the OD of the metal sleeved bush is identical for the 3 'versions' above ie early ones can be replaced with c version but ive never seen the early (a) ones, only b+c.
