my XC70 was delivered today.. a bit rushed as it was brought to my office.. so no time to really have a look at it before it was dark today..
first impressions are great.. only small point which has been already pointed out.. where to put your left foot ?(manual version)..there is not enough room. I had driven an auto on the test drive. Hadn't realised the satnav came with a remote control..nice feature. car came with half tank of fuel - so that was a small bonus write more after the weekend |

So first 150 miles were very good..
very happy with the specification - everything seems to be well screwed together.. eventually found all the switches and controls.. however there is one redundant switch on the car and when talking with the dealer - they said it was a cost option to make it work.. which one is it

I am sure you have the same..
it's the headlight switch.. when in zero position they are on.. and on position they are on !! so what is the point of having 3 positions??? apparently you can have the lights switched off in the zero position..but costs money to have it changed by the dealer.. btw.. did you notice there is a recall on the XC70 already for the airbag software

I've read the post on here about the recall, but wasn't sure if it effects the New XC70 (ie 2008) or just the old shape 2007's.
As for the headlights, all my Volvo's have been like that, ie headlights always on. If its in Zero position the full beam doesn't work (you can flash, but not stay on) but in On then the full beam works. You can get your dealer (at a cost) to set them so in Zero they are off ie No daylight running lights. But I like the daylight running lights, at first I thought you stood out but once you've drive the car a bit you'll see other drives give you more room, don't overtake when you're coming the other way etc. You are seen better and makes for a more restfull drive, its that or everyone thinks you're the Police.....

had a quick look on the VOSA site which shows the recalls..
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp and the VIN number isnt' so clear.. (compared to what I have seen for example on my Honda).. the VIN end seems to be 10287 and 12705..

I was in my dealers the other day with a fault on my car and they never mentioned there was a recall, but I'll phone them in the next day or two and ask.
The fault I had / have is when I start my car the rear heated window button light is on, its happened ever since I had the car and I thought I must of forget to turn it off or had knocked the button, but did a couple of tests and its on when I start the car. Well on bar the day I took it in so they couldn't find any fault, so I'll see what happens from now on, it might of fixed its self.

did you check the menu for the heated window.. you can select it to come on when you start the car if temperature is below certain figure..
how/where to post pictures on this site??

Where in the menu is it?, everytime I look at the menu I find something new. The dealer was telling me on the S80 Sport you can set the Steering with the ActiveFour C, but on the New XC70 its fixed, but is weighted different depending if you have it in Comfort, Sport or Advanced.
