Scary stuff indeed.

Think I'll stick to the 240 though - might not be as safe as some modern stuff but I suspect it would hold up well compared to a lot of other cars around at the moment.....................

Was going to replace the other halfs Focus with a V90 now that we have the bairn to carry around, but now maybe I will plump for a 4 year old Mondeo instead. Seems that being 15 years younger in design really pays dividends......

Would have been good to see the different weight crash of 2 cars from the same era though.

Well as I suspected they chose one of the oldest 940's with the fewest safety features and the heaviest Modus there is to do the crash test.

Also they kept referring to the Modus as a "supermini" but it's not at all, it's a mini-MPV, did you see how big it looked compared to the Volvo.

Ah well, 1991 car beaten by 2004 car which is only 250 kilos lighter in crash test shock

Still food for thought though, I bet it surprised a lot of people who bought a "safe" big old barge to protect their family. Imagine what something like a 5* NCAP 1600kg Mondeo would have done to the 940, probably would have made it into the loadbay. Or for that matter if they'd used something like a 1991 Escort rather than a 940 to slam into the Modus. Made good telly mind you, not very scientific but good entertainment.

How many of us will be driving to work VERY CAREFULLY tomorrow morning I wonder

Cheers,
John

They were going to crash test a 15 year old volvo against a 15 year old renault, but they couldn't find a renault in one piece!!!! lol.

Hi,

Maybe the reason they don't test against 15+ year old renaults is because they are happily rusting to pieces?

Like the Volvo 740 and cavalier rear end crash test, the volvo ploughed through past the driver!!
Has been posted on here somewhere...

I would not be rushing out to buy a renault though. Not even if my life depended on it..

What is worrying is the fact the an EC commissioner has shown interest and has requested the film...
I see more trouble ahead...

Des. . .

I would have found it much more entertaining if that scruffy tw*t presenting it shut up for 5 minutes and allowed someone who knew their stuff to descrbe what had happened and how each car had reacted, not "the volvo doesnt have a drivers door" e.t.c
