Maybe so. Speaking for myself and my own driving I consider it would make no difference as I am already sensible and have no claims. I am not a keen lover of black boxes, for the reasons some have pointed out due to their 'spying' although consider them good as a parent for kids new to driving, and the less experienced as stated previously. Remember some of these 'groups' may have been unable to have obtained insurance prior to these 'black boxes'

It may have a benefit to everyone, although not necessarily. Reference insurance claims -the general consensus is that a person who has claimed is this 'bad' driver. Thats the insurance companies view, not necessarily mine, although using a simple example of someone pulling out of a side street into the path of a correctly positioned and travelling vehicle - the 'puller outer' is not exactly considered a good driver are they?

Not sure I follow what you mean? Why would a young driver say 'I am a bad driver' - its generally the opposite.

the bit in bold i find personal mate, making a joke like that was totally uncalled for.I can have light hearted moments but NOT when you make what i find an unnecessary and some what contentious joke. Being tailgated by anyone (in bad weather to boot) is down right dumb. To then take the what i find PEE and make a joke of what was illustrating a view point of my own frankly stinks.
Yes anyone can drive badly. This context though was in relation to insurance black boxes and their benefits for 'certain drivers' -not really or factually who is or who is not a bad driver. Bad drivers span all age group, classes and experience I agree, although according to insurers it is the 'younger and less experienced drivers' that give rise to higher claims - so in essence by default they are 'bad' or 'badder' drivers than others (even though badder is not really a word you get the gist?)..!!

Not sure which 'bit in bold' you are referring to.If it is regards tailgating, just lets say having been 'rear ended on numerous ocassion' ( no wise cracks please - (perhaps I shouldnt have used the word 'cracks either...lol)...most in here know my views on tailgaters - I even made a post on it. I shall say no more.

Regards this 'bit in bold' stinking (not sure which bit mind) - your suggestion that in your opinion and via your own observation it was 'middle aged drivers' doing the tailgating - did you not read what I suggested that said 'middle aged driver' may come into the category 'the less experienced' having only passed his or her test recently?

I do feel you have blown all this out of proportion for reasons and emotions known and/or felt by only yourself , and thus become upset unneccesarily. After all I, was only pointing out to Rdesignbob that for his lad who appears to fall into the factual category 'young and/ or less experienced' there may be favourable options regards obtaining insurance.

In no way shape nor form is such recommendation suggesting Rdesignbobs lad is a bad driver, simply the possibility that he is maybe young and inexperienced. Nothing more. Nothing less.

You do however appear to be suggesting otherwise.

Regards

These have potential benefits to everyone though mate not just new drivers. I have my own views to but those are not what i am here for

There could be perfectly reasonable circumstances as to why that could of occured, anyone can be a "good driver" and in a moment get in to a situation they would not rather of been in.

Not sure I follow what you mean? Why would a young driver say 'I am a bad driver' - its generally the opposite.

WRONG end of the stick entirely. When people say young drivers are bad drivers, it is not factually correct the statistics show them as in the highest CLAIM NOT bad driver group.

Yes anyone can drive badly. This context though was in relation to insurance black boxes and their benefits for 'certain drivers' -not really or factually who is or who is not a bad driver. See you have even stated it yourself. Just because you have a claim does not make you a bad driver! it means simply you have a claim. I mean recently my own mum mid to late 50's was involved in a small incident for which there is now a claim on her insurance she is not a bad driver by any stretch, in addition my auntie was involved in a pretty serious incident on black ice leaving her mini with a new chassis she is not a "bad driver" it simply means they are possibly at fault no one can EVER say they are bad drivers, in addition most people involved actually manage most of the time to get away less severely and they are the ones with the "bad driving" (sods law)

Not sure which 'bit in bold you are referring to.If it is regards tailgating, just lets say having been 'rear ended on numerous ocassion' ( no wise cracks please - (perhaps I shouldnt have used the word 'cracks either...lol)...most in here know my views on tailgaters - I even made a post on it. Well maybe the joke was ill timed and ill conceived but i was offended mate end of.

Reasons and emotions? and upset no i was just actually trying to highlight to YOU that your statement was incorrect if you had stated about claims then yes true i would of let it go.

In no way shape nor form is such recommendation suggesting Rdesignbobs lad is a bad driver, simply the possibility that he is maybe young and inexperienced. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Had a co-op box on my S40 since September 2011.

Based on some of the replies it would appear certain people believe this box would be intrusive and would be like being watched like a hawk! The reality is somewhat different!

I drive on this insurance currently as a named driver, however I was honest on what miles I would cover in a year. Also my mother uses it for town driving as well. My initial premium was £680 I believe, this worked out at £55.13 per month! Keep in mind fully comp from co-ops normal insurance was £150 per month!!!

Also I am not a slow driver, I do however obey the speed limits regardless of the box or not, but I have on many occasions went beyond them since I got the box. One thing you should know is that if your Son or Daughter CONSISTENTLY drives harshly then their premium is likely to increase. This isn't going to make your life hell when you set out and have you worrying if you brake too hard that your insurance is going up, it's not like that! As I said, consistent bad driving is what will kill your chances of a discount.

On many occasions I have been over 80mph when I have had to overtake when I am in a rush on A-roads, yes 80 - 20mph above the limit and this didn't even affect my rating, however had I done this sort of thing on a regular basis then yes, it would have!!

Just last week I was given my renewal price for my car. 680 down to.... £400!!!! £38 per month!

Honestly people this isn't what you imagine in the least. One negative is that night time driving can affect your rating considerably. Driving between the hours of 11pm and 6am consistently will be a problem but if you do it on occasion, no problem!

Way I see it is I have saved a huge amount of money and running my car has been a lot cheaper.

At first I was skeptical but I gave it a shot and have been rewarded with cheaper running costs and I can drive a car I enjoy without being crippled with outrageous premiums!

Any questions please do ask

You did actually say 'i hate young drivers saying they are bad drivers as it is not factually correct what so ever'

Hence my request for clarification.

Now that you have edited it in your post, it makes more sense, and 'no wrong end of sticks are taken'

Yes it is as it encourages you to drive smoother and you are rewarded for doing so.

Sorry if this has been mentioned and shot down in flames - tow it home (rigid brace, NOT rope).
