Started using it on the D5 after and again all the above are true, the spec on the Carlube stuff is TC JASO FB. Asda do a similar priced one and you car save a bit more cash buying the larger bottles. I stick to the 500ml one's as its idea to add a full bottle per tank easier and less messy than a big bottle.
I do change my oil, filter and fuel filter every 6 months and haven't seen any issues with residue build up in the fuel filter, I've yet to see any negative effects of using the stuff and until I do I'm on the 2 Stroke bandwagon.
Does your have the DPF, any parts replaced on engine or Manual/Autobox?

Cheers

The 163 can have a dpf if it has a silver engine cover.

Your original post suggested that you 'didn't know' a 163hbp engine 'can' have a dpf .....that is what cheshired5 meant with his post imo (& that was good advice for others reading imo).
There are so many configurations with these engines, I remember being very confused when I read the many threads on this before choosing my car/engine type.

I'm now onto the 4th full tank of 60ml 2-stroke oil (Halfords2 Stroke Garden Engine Oil - incredibly cheap if you have a Halford's tade card) to 65l and I've been keeping track of the effects. This is in my mile-eating new shape 2013 V70 D3.

Sod all difference to MPG. A while back I did a run of 5 tanks of Shell V-Power compared to Tesco Diesel and got a 2% increase in mileage compared to the 6% increase in price. So that was a no-no.

However, the way the thing drives is noticably different. It is incredibly smooth at idle and is massively quieter on the whole. There's obvioulsy no way to measure this, but it feels nippier. The happy with the small cost of adding a few ml at each full tank.

It's early doors on the results in my 185BHP D5 XC70 which gets used for A and B roads and quite a lot of town driving. Unfortunately my iCarsoft i906 doesn't have the facility to record when regens have taken place, but it does have the facility to read dpf pressure which was noramlly 13kPa. I know it did a regen about 100 miles ago - I saw the mpg drop significantly for about 5 miles - and I see that the pressure is now 11kPa having left it to build up to a normal soot level. Read into that what you want, but I would say that there is some kind of effect on how the dpf is sooting up. Obviously, this is far from conclusive and the dpf needs to be at a certain level of soot for it to actually work efficiently as a soot filter, so a lower pressure may mean it's now running with less soot in it and so less effective. I would like to be able to know if it reduces then number of regens.

Again, the difference in noise levels and how smooth the thing idles, particularly straight after cold starts is significant. It really is very smooth.

The information that I would personally like to know and can't find is exactly why it is said that less soot is produced. Does it result in a hotter burn or something? Does it affect the cetane? If so, I can well see the benefits of adding 2 stroke.

Pretty much exactly what I remember. But as you say sod all difference in fuel consumption.

Not the first time I have read about this. I have recently given it a go. No idea on consumption as I have no fuel gauge or speedo. It does feel to drive a little better but most noticeable is that it now starts better than it used to
