My main concern was auto box, given the fairly high mileage (147k) but as far as I can tell it seems to shift ok.Bodywork, while it has no major panel damage or rust is tatty at best and so is interior.Being an amateur bodger with no Volvo expirience this should be fun and I will almost certainly need a lot of help from this forum. My first question would be regarding the broken interior handle for bonnet opening, has anyone managed to repair that ? Secondnly, what can be done with worn armrest and handbrake leather cover? Thanks

Word centre armrest cover?

You can buy a new cover from ebay for about £7.00 remove the plastic top armrest (YouTube vids explain how to) then remove the damaged leather cover and replace then refit.

That's what I did on mine.

Or you can buy a cover already fitted to the plastic piece for around £22 ish.

The newer V70 (2008 onwards) feels much more spacious inside, comparatively to the shape you have. Its also a bigger car, so rear leg room is better. I can have the seat fully back in my dad's V70 estate (newer shape) & there's still room for someone well over 6ft to sit in comfort. Glad that they improved the leg room on the newer model, as that's one of the things that put me off the older shape being honest.

So what's your plans going forward?

First ,change lower arm,CV boot, bonnet cable and fix the handbrake. Then think about it,but I am tempted to sell it and look for the best S80 I can find.

the wife doesn't drive, only judges what is acceptable ...If I don't fix the interior, and probably fair bit of exterior, either the wife or the S80 will have to be replaced..
