XC60 ride
A number of responses to my original post. It's on 17" rims (Conti Cross Contact 235/65) and was originally at 37+ psi cold. The ride did dampen out a little when I dropped it to as low as I dare (the book figure is 35 psi unladen) and I'm trying it at 32-33 (I can't think why it's so high - the bigger the tyres, the less pressure is required for the same weight, and my XC70 runs at 32 on 215/65 16" - noticably smaller wheels). In the end I run tyre pressures based on wear patterns (centre vs outsides), so we'll see.
To rkennedy, you need to do the South Deeside Road regularly! Sections there rattle your teeth and the XC60 is worse than my old Merc E-class with sports suspension. The Aberdeen servicing I have found as OK/not OK over the years as any main dealer. I've had a lot lot worse service from Mercedes, plus the stuck-up we-re-doing-you-a-favour attitude that you tend to get there I've never had at AC. My XC70 had a number of things sorted under warranty no problems at all, and when something went shortly after warranty they did cut the bill right down. Having said that, I do feel they need to back off on their first approach which feels like "no we can't/don't do that" and be a bit more proactive. At least the XC60 deal is free servicing for 3 years. Just had the car back today from its 3000 miles QA check, and wassn't at all surprised by the lack of any substantive fixes to the minor niggles. TBH, what can they really do when the design of the car includes wind noise and a harsh ride. But I would have liked them to at least say that they take these things up with Volvo. |

Did they fix the wind noise issue with the wing mirrors? I was promised this would be the case, but in my experience I will just be passed from dealer to manufacturer. Typical. Shame though, lovely car.

I am really happy with my XC60. Lots of room in the boot for hauling stuff, its a comfortable place to be when driving and the few niggles I had with it have been sorted by the dealer. V Happy

Interesting you would say that. I was on the motorway yesterday with all passengers complaining about the wind noise. I decided to fold in the wing mirrors (because I can) and no difference! So you may be right, it's not the wing mirrors.

We've owned 2 Honda CRV's which I though were excellent long distance tourers. We've only had the Volvo a week, so too early to fill in the poll but I already feel the XC60 is a significantly better car than the Honda so I'm very pleased with our purchase. Probably 10-15% more expensive to buy (depending on discounts) but worth the extra IMO thus far. We're on holiday in Devon & Cornwall for the next fortnight and when we return we should have around 2,000 on the clock and be in a better position to vote. |

Following a 800 mile round trip to Euro Disney 4 up it's now covered around 9000 miles. On the return journey, cruising at 80 to 85mph I was getting a good 36mpg. Up to this point I struggled to get 32 on any journey. Wind noise appart, it was a fine companion.
I purchased a pair of the Volvo side sun screens for the trip. Excellent value at £30 and fit a treat.

Could you post any pictures of the side screens?

Here's a selection of photos including how the screens are secured. Have included a few pics of the Garmin installation also.......
