Not the last time I asked, in France at present but will check when I get back. SETyres in Dorchester is usually the cheapest so I'll give them a ring.

Grabbers should be great for you. Good in the wet and dry, and also perform well in snow as per many quotes on here so fine for those odd couple of days you mention. Also the Grabbers should last well if you drive sensibly and have 4 wheel alignment done regularly to avoid the uneven wear. Plus they are at an ok price point, so gives you money towards the 4 wheel alignment...

Just to repeat what many others have said Grabbers are a good price, wear well and quiet, good in dry/wet.
Ok in light/fair snow, but it is a big, high, heavy vehicle so forget if you live up a track/hill in the dales/moors/valleys, Id suggest you get some proper off road or winter tyres which won't perform on the Tarmac as well as Grabbers or a tried and tested 4x4 instead
Sure some of my experience is due to poor technique and fear of smashing my dear car/Occupants, as Ive rallied a mk2 escort and used to enjoy making my first company car Corsa TDi go sideways at any opportunity (many years ago now) so hope I know what I'm doing
XC should get up most hills, but down fills me with more fear on the auto box, although some tips elsewhere on here
Anyway, back to he question, grabbers are good

Agree with the Vredstien Wintrac 4 Extreme, chucked them on for Winter and they've been great, better than the Matadors that came with the car, dreading putting them back on after winter and will hopefully save a bit of cash and get some decent tyres to tide me over until the Vreds needto go back on next winter.....

Default Federal couragia ?

Hi, anyone got views on federal tyres. Tyretraders.com have got a good deal of £81.53 fully fitted that,s a big discount compared to nokian,s or grabbers. Just wondering what their like it,s a big jump to the nokians.

I have Grabbers fitted, they are on 16k now and fronts are showing signs of wear, they have been fine other than that but fuel economy has dropped a bit since fitting them

One other issue i am having is tyre noise as mentioned in my other post. I think it could be the dif or bearings but dealers are saying it's tyre noise!

Default Wranglers as it turns out....

Having decided after much searching through the forum to opt for Grabbers now find they are out of stock in the UK could be 6+ weeks. So gone for the Wranglers instead at £21 a corner more expensive. Fitting on Tuesday at £148.50 each.

Here's a review of the Federals that I've just seen.

I'm afraid that they don't look too good at all.

Default Took the plunge with Nokians

Well after a bit of deliberation, I took the plunge and ordered 4 new Nokian Z SUVs for the XC90. Had a good run on 4 Continential 4x4's for 26,000 miles but liked what people here had said about the Nokians. They were also the quietest, and most efficient in terms of fuel and wet conditions in the size I needed.

Had a struggle getting them and in the end ordered them from oponeo.co.uk on Monday and they arrived today so a good service as they came from The Netherlands. Funny thing is though that on Sunday night they were £112 each, a bargain, then on Monday they were £119. Today, they are £122. So work that one out. I did call them and asked why. All I was told was that their stock fluctuates and so does their prices. There was no question of meeting the earlier price sadly.

No-one in the NE could get hold of them so I'm pleased to get a set and hope to get them fitted tomorrow at a small local garage for £12 each.

Hope the info helps someone else as the other posts on this forum have helped me. Enjoy your driving!
