V70 D4 2015 - rear washer feed leaking into airbags!
I am on the hunt for the holy grail of sorting out the PCV cover on my D4 and stopping all the oil venting issues.
As a detour, I asked the garage to get to the bottom of the wooshing noise when I operated the rear windscreen cleaning jet. Apparently the line goes up the lefthand A pillar and along the headlining to the rear screen. The noise from the A pillar was washer fluid spraying out of a split and going into the electrics of the curtain wall airbag!! Totally unexpected and as I am scared of airbags - that one is for the garage! |

MOT passed yesterday. Whoopee! Advisories - rear service brakes binding very slightly. Mechanic said nothing detected on the rollers(?) but felt slightly tight when rotating the wheels by hand. He suspected could be pads sticking a bit, perhaps due to low miles (and maybe me driving like a granny?).

Filled the washer bottle on my XC70. I use an RAC endorsed cleaner from B&M stores - two five litre bottles for £6. It appears to work well.

Cleaned the IMV on my D5
2014 XC70 D5 AWD - 135k miles; I removed the IMV valve off the high pressure fuel pump to inspect and clean.
After a quick spray with brake cleaner, it looks like new. |

Took the front grille off my 2009 V70 2.5T ready for a new one - the 2010 upgrade. The old one was loose in places as the clips were broken, so cut the grill in places to get my hand in to loosen the other clips.
Ordered some ali mesh off Amazon to make a screen to go behind the new grille as the holes in the grille are bigger to catch bugs and stones from hitting the radiator.

V70 D3 normal DPF Regeneration recorded
It wasn't today, but needed to be tidied up.
I have recorded the successful normal DPF regen triggered by the accumulated 2.000 km instead of accumulated soot. https://youtu.be/Nkv3mG7KLLk Explanation (which is also included with YT video) follows. Volvo V70 D3 normal DPF Regeneration in colder weather - 5 cyl. diesel engine D5204T7 model year 2013. Small contribution to other similar videos and info. Done with Car Scanner Pro ELM OBD2. This normal DPF regen was not started because of the soot amount threshold which usually triggers it, but because of the accumulated 2.000 km without DPF regen which was not started because accumulated soot did not reach the threshold of around 25,5-26,0 g. Amount of the soot which triggers the DPF regen on this car is usually about 25,70 g and it was recorded three times before, but in warmer weather. But, in the colder weather and my 75% motorway / 25% city driving the soot build up is much slower than in summer or early autumn. The last two DPF regens (including this one) were started when the car accumulated almost exactly 2.000 km since last regen and the soot amount was way below the usual trigger of around 25,5-26,0 g. So, DPF regen does not only start when enough soot is accumulated in DPF (around 25,5-26,0 g in my car). It looks like 2.000 km is the other trigger, which starts the DPF regen if the threshold of the soot amount is not reached within 2.000 kms. Ride description follows. Ride date: 2023-02-22 (from 15:39 CET to 16:35 CET) Outside temperature: around 10 C Ride started in the city. Then most of the ride was on a motorway (where complete DPF regen occured) with only a last few kilometres again in the city. Ride start: 249.079 km Ride end: 249.133 km Ride total: 54 km (56 minutes) DPF regen start: 249.094 km (at video time 21:03 and soot 21,41 g) DPF regen end: 249.118 km (at video time 41:18 and soot 5,59 g) DPF regen total: 24 km (20 minutes) (engine speed was mostly 1.700-2.000 RPMs in 5th gear, but not all the time) DPF regen Soot Start: 21,41 g DPF regen Soot End: 5,59 g Did anyone else noticed / experienced such slow soot accumulation and DPF regen triggered by accumulated miles instead of grams of soot?
