if the poles are not at the right spacing, then the monitors must be for another car. As far as I know, all years XC90 have the same spacing (I may stand corrected...). If you look in one of my earlier posts the sizes are listed. I have never seen Volvo headrests with adjustable poles either. You may however be able to move the screens over to your own headrests - difficult to say without looking at them. Re power supply - dont go buying an enverter - what you need (if you cannot construct one yourself) is a simple regulator to drop 12V to 5v. There are heaps around on ebay or in your local model shop. Search google or ebay for "UBEC" - you will find several regulators- just find a 12V input and 5v (or whatever your media player wants) output. Also, check the amperage that the player needs - most are less than 1amp - unless you wish to power a USB hard drive where a 3A unit would probably be best. Here is one (did not check price... just fyi) UBEC Hope that helps. David Last edited by BestGear; Jan 31st, 2011 at 19:02. |

Hi Thanks for you info!!
I had a look on the website I brought my Sumvison Cyclone & it says power is 5v? Does that sound right??! Also, in this listing, your screens look just like the ones I've mentioned, do you recall the part no on them?? Regards |

You could still probably move the screens over into your own headrests - the current (on mine certainly) headrest covers just zip off from the bottom. They are tight but its do-able...after all, thats how they are originally fitted. David Last edited by BestGear; Feb 1st, 2011 at 08:56. |

Hi Any news on the part no for you headrest screens.
in your earlier post, you said you made a regulator to power the 5v Sumvision, can you suggest an off the shelf item, as I'm assuming that I will no longer require a UBEC?? Regards JA p's what was the name of your thread which mentioned the headrest measurements? Thanks |

Hi Jangol
The UBEC is an off the shelf regulator if you need 5v to power the player. Making one is easy if you know which end of a soldering iron is hot... if not, buy a UBEC. Not had a min to look for part number - its not really that relevant methinks as the poles dont fit... Link for measurements?,... LINKY |

Yes, I removed the plastic "block" plug from the monitors, and reused the power and one video input (there are two inputs). I just put a phono plug on the video signal and power went off to barrier strip. David

Two answers here! Originally, I just used a couple of the connectors below to split the signal, but that is dependant on the video level comming out of whatever media player you choose being high enough to drive the screens you need - if it is not high enough, the picture will be darker than you want. I found that the Sumvision was just not quite bright enough, and if you increase brightness on the player, it reverted to default when power was cycled... quite annoying! I changed to the amplifier below - which was all of a tenner from eBay which lets you set the video levels to each screen - and video levels mean brightness in reality.... thus problem sorted. Hope that helps. David
