It would be a good game plan if this has all been arranged by the motor manufactuers as I bet that there will be an increase in sales of hi-performance cars over the next couple of years.

Then the push will be low performance battery cars...milk floats for all

No problem with this at all, in fact I cannot see why the limiter should not be set at a countrys national limit

As I've said before Speed doesn't kill, inappropriate use of speed does.

Will a speed limited car prevent you from speeding in fog, dense traffic, heavy rain etc.. not seen it mentioned anywhere.

No, I can't agree with you here. Well.. Partially..

Speed doesn't kill.

And in the same vein, falling from great height doesn't kill either.

Its that rapid deceleration at the end of both that gets ya..

Bottom line: with better roads and better training for drivers there would be next to no reason against setting national limit at let's say 100mph.

But that would require funds for roads, funds for training, and each driver tested for presence if brain cells (many would fail)

So its much much easier to limit the speeds even further, and claim more money (speed cameras) whilst doing so..

Appropriate use of speed requires thinking, which authorities don't like. And there's no "golden rule" to govern it, which authorities love..

Not happening.

Clearly not. But it will stop you breaking the law. Why is this a bad thing?

Wouldn't it be a great oversimplification to say that by not breaking a law, one doesn't do anything wrong?

Am not suggesting for one minute that is the case. But why do cars have to have the ability to surpass speed limits by 50/60/70mph etc...?

I also bet that when it gets introduced that they do not increase the allowed speed on motorways even though these are the safest roads to be on.

And I'll bet that politicians cars will be exempt, just like Tony liars car was exempt from travelling in the third lane into London. Politicians are FAR too important to be restrained. I'm just going to go out before it's implemented and buy the biggest, fastest most unrestricted car I can, then I'm going to turn it up to eleventy and stick two fingers up.

Any answers for this? Top speed is just a Willy waving exercise for bar room boasting. For what its worth am no fan of politicians but would have no problem with their vehicles, emergency services, doctors etc.. being exempt from restrictions for obvious reasons
