A friend of my dad used to have a mk1 cavalier "back in the day". He wired the starter wiring though the brake light switch so that to start the car, you had to have your foot on the pedal. I always thought it was a good idea, ive just remembered it.

As far as the phone service providers cutting off unused phones, im sure that there are some that dont. The idea came from Practically jurassic magazine so it MUST have worked!
