Any advice for us poor souls with an older 163 XC90?
I remember RICA offered (or maybe still do) a good reduction for older models - do Polestar do likewise?. Obviously warranty is not an issue, but can all the old 163's bits cope with the extra power? I believe the 185 has a beefier turbo as well as a better box and 4 wheel drive system. |

Hi.
The 163 can handle the power no worries but Volvo (polestar) dont do any lower priced upgrades. Sorry Gary |

Is it the same upgrade for the 163?
Up to 205. If so, it should be much more noticeable and beneficial to the 163? Does it improve the dreaded standing start delay? |

The RICA offerings are not covered by warranty so for new owners Polestar is the only choice if they want to maintain their warranty. T. |

anyone seen how much extra these increase insurance by? i have just done a quote with admiral as mine is due to be renewed in 3 weeks, and for a 10% increase - assuming an 18bhp rise to 185+18=203 bhp, the annual cost went up by about £130.
as much as i would like to order, couldn't justify that. |

My xc 90 is due for delivery in july from HARRATS VOLVO WAKEFIELD and i can think about upgrading at delivery if we can get the price down to £ 250, as other members suggested.

Hi
Im sorry we can not reduce to £250. If I reduce it to £500 we loosing money on every upgrade cos Volvo charge us that much for them. I am trying to get Volvo to reduce there cost but so far I just get a big fat no. Like I said before the only way to get it a lower cost is to include a service this way I will discount the service as well as the chip. Gary |

I have started to look here:
http://www.rica-uk.com/viewcar.aspx?vehicle=6 Scroll to the bottom of the page and look at the i-soft loader, this enables you to return to factory map for the purpose of servicing and warranty work making the remap invisible because it isn`t there, after the vehicle is back home the map can be re-loaded and off you go again. Until I collect my XC90, I have a Ford Focus ST for which I use a dreamscience remap, again provided on a handset for home loading and un-loading, it is brilliant, takes a couple of minutes each time and is totally un-detectable at the garage. I always look at remaps as the car can never have too much power, however I do have a problem with the cost of Polestar with the gains it offers. Another good thing with the RICA maps is the availability of different maps to suit your pocket and needs, for me though the Stage 2 reads very nicely, 240 BHP and 480 NM of torqe |
